2014 Scion Racing Road Race Build
 

Hi all, my name is Michele Abbate and I drive for Scion Racing. In my past 3 years with Scion I have been in a tC. For 2014, we are building our 2013 Scion FR-S. We purchased it on Friday Feb. 14th, it had 1,086 miles, and its now cage ready.

We will be racing in the United States Touring Car Championships, full press release can be found here on my website..

Weighing the car before gutting out the whole interior. It was at 2657 lbs. with about a 1/4 tank of gas

PS- All interior parts, pieces, etc. are for sale. As you can see they had already been wrapped up and ready to ship (I'm sure I'll need a FS thread, but just dont have the time right now)

UPDATE

After gutting out the full interior, the weight of the car became 2467 lbs. Once we get the 6 point cage in.. it will probably weigh about what it started it... we shall see.

We also gutted out the doors and removed the windows and all of the mechanisms. You'd be surprised at how heavy the window stripping and wiring is on the car...

About 33 lbs. worth of weight here from both sides of the car...

Gutted out and plasma'd the doors for the NASCAR bars in the cage. We will only be doing the driver's side as a NASCAR bar though, per the rules, and to save more weight in tubing

Also removed the rear window glass... but it was only about 14lbs. we were hoping to lose more weight. still deciding if we'll keep it permanently removed or just put it back in

What racing experience do you have? I don't see any race classes listed on any of the pictures of your cars. My guess is you will be running in the SCCA Pirelli World Challenge like the other FR-S team.

btw not to nitpick that doesnt look like a 10 Series Headlight don't look right

I think she was confused. The 10 Series only came in one color I thought, and that color is not red.

I'm excited to how this build will turn out. I remember you from the Mazda forum. You've done some great work and racing. Welcome to the forum.

I think @Anthony will find this interesting, as his car is at about this point.

you can check out my website, but while with Scion I did NASA TT, then two years of MotoIQ Pacific Tuner Car Championships. Used to race for Crawford in their Subaru... before all that i did the time attack thing and autocross when I was like 16.
