Keep car N/A or buy another faster track car

Just curious what everybody's opinions are on this.

Currently I'm pretty happy with my N/A power level, and am planning on keeping it N/A for at least a year or two (my goal is to be able to push this car to the limit at the track first before I go F/I). But since I'm bored and this question always comes up in my head when daydreaming about future power, I wanted to know what you guys think.

So here's the 2 case scenarios, assuming maintenance/room weren't an issue:

1) Go full F/I build with the FRS. Most likely forged internals, upgraded transmission, 400-500 whp turbo, lots of weight reduction, lots of aero to keep car planted, big hoosiers, etc. This would turn the FRS into one track monster, but also be very expensive $$$

2) Buy another faster car to make into my track only car, keep FRS N/A for liesure time outside the track. Some choices in the 20-50k range (since I expect the above build to cost at least 50k with car): c6 z06 corvette, lightly used c7 corvette (really, how do you deny this sexy beast?), low mileage good condition FD RX7 TT, Supra, maybe even used GT-R if prices drop a little more, Evos, STI's, you get the picture. This would also mean buying a used truck to haul it around with (if going full race car), but if you don't care about the truck you can find used ones pretty dang cheap.

Just curious and figured I'd fire this off before I get to the daily grind...

Option 3 -
You're just dreaming about all of this and can't afford any of it (or you probably would have already done it). Quit dreaming and enjoy the car now.

Who knows, lol, there are a lot of people with more money than opinions.

If you can actually afford either of these options, its really up to you.

If you're taking out debt to do either of these things, then I recommend neither.

If you're not and you can afford this, my preference would be FRS track car and a more plushy / luxurious daily driver.

Just wanted to say this is purely hypothetical. I'm sure we all dream of cars (or at least most of us), so I just wanted to know if it were up to you guys what would you do.

I obviously can't afford either of these at this moment, but I could've went F/I a while ago. Or bought a faster car to begin with. I didn't out of *choice*.

And going into debt for any of these options would be really stupid IMO.

We can be friends then lol. I hate seeing kids on this forum that are like "Should I buy my turbo or make my car payment?"

But seriously, if I had more money, I would be doing a full track build for my FR-S and bagging an LS400 as a daily driver.

I agree. My priority right now is paying off my own. Calculated it out and it will only take me 1 year then I can have fun with the extra $500 a month I'm not paying on my car payment (which goes a long way to even fund one of the above ventures ;)).

Although I did almost buy a supercharger last year. But thankfully I've convinced myself being patient. I had never even thought about going in debt before this car but when it came out I just really wanted one for some reason. Not really the wisest choice I guess but for now my focus is on getting back "out of" debt.

EDIT: That's a good point on the LS400. But if I went full track build and got a luxurious daily driver, myself I'll just go with the c7 vette lol.

Spend good about of $ on skilling up your driving by going & compete in autox & track. Spending other $ on suspension, brake & tires. After several yrs going that & can compete in national level, you can then get potential of this car & all powerful sports car.

I'm not pointing finger at you or anyone here, but I see owner complaining about tires, power, this & that on this car... but they don't blame their lack of driving skill.

Several times, I've driven their so called "slow/NA" FRS/BRZ & got up fast time (not the fastest in the group, but pretty close).

Another example is, Cusco FR-S (NA engine) won fastest autox lap time in FT86Nation event. They were competing against other FI FRS/BRZ, but feedback from driver & suspension setup, they improved ranked 7 to all the way to the top.

So before think bout FI or buying powerful sports car, think bout this question.
"Am I using full potential of this car? Or my driving skill is stopping this car to used full potential?"

I definitely agree and am trying to work on my driving skills. Unfortunately missed events this month but after I get paid the first I'll be looking into any hpde's next month, can't wait to hit the track again I need some more seat time :burnrubber:

Also very impressed with N/A cars lap times. I think Robi hit 1:35 on WSIR over here N/A (with full track build, some decent light weight, and bolt ons + e85 for power) which was/is the record for N/A FRS there I think. That's pretty damn fast I'll sure be happy if I ever get good enough to get close to that N/A.

Not only that but at autox are cars are killing, and then there's TRD griffon.

There you go, there your answer. Stop thinking, just go out & drive.

I'm kind of in the same position but I have a different option 3. Mod one of the other turbo cars. I have a 2g AWD DSM, a 91 3000 VR4 and a 88 Starion/Conquest. I've had to convince myself to leave the FR-S stock for now till the above listed cars are complete, or at least at what I would call "stage I" I'm pretty sure after I'm done paying for the FR-S though I'm getting me a Supra and might mess with the FR-S later... maybe.

@ichitaka05

off topic but what bumper is that in your signature? It looks like a slightly modified version of the OEM BRZ bumper. I love it!
