PRE Stepped Header

Just added this bad boy this afternoon

A PRE Stepped diameter 4 to 1 double slip collector Header

Stock baseline Dyno was 173WHP then with the Header and tune made just short of 193WHP and it drives great!!

Thanks PRE team

VesperLynn 02-16-2014 12:00 AM

How much for zis setup?

FRSfan111 02-16-2014 12:19 AM

Looks sexy! But I want a cat :/ I don't want to have to swap to stock for stupid deq

VesperLynn 02-16-2014 12:26 AM

My county doesn't require DEQ

I want to know how much this baby is :(

Carlitoz3 02-16-2014 12:28 AM

Sexy lil thing ;)

Jmonty 02-16-2014 12:50 AM

No DEQ where I am at, I understand MSRP is like $1600-$1700ish
I was a test fit, dyno & tune

VesperLynn 02-16-2014 12:53 AM

Is that just the header or including tune?

Jmonty 02-16-2014 01:23 AM

I think just header but Check with PRE to be sure

Chen 02-16-2014 06:29 AM

How's it sound?

NickFRS 02-16-2014 06:50 AM

$1600 shoulds way to expensive lol.

Jmonty 02-16-2014 10:58 AM

I am not sure on the pricing check with PRE, as far as sound goes at start up it is a little loud but not bad, over all I am very happy with the sound, you can tell something has changed it is just not crazy.

Did Erich tune your car or bobby stop by>?

Jmonty 02-16-2014 08:26 PM

Erich did it

I saw this header while they were still fabbing it up around a month ago.

It. Is. Beautiful.

The welds and quality of the one they had made there was astounding. Super smooth transition between the 4-1 and nice gentle bends everywhere.

Really slick.

We picked up a little power top end with the tune alone which is typical but you can see that with the equal length header it opens up the power band not only up top but lower in the rev range as well. OE intake, muffler, resonator.

Temperature was about 57F in the dyno room, 29.66inHg, 90-100% humidity.

I saw this thing while they were developing it. Really a top notch piece. Don't quote me on this, lol, but I never heard anyone mention pricing that high. It sounded more competitively priced with the P&L 4-1 I have. I got both cats though. I love cats. So furry and cute..

He will soon, for E85 with bigger port injectors and pump. I believe in him. Tuning is like anything else in life. There is no magic sauce. You get what you put in. :)

calmtigers 02-18-2014 08:49 PM

Really sweet design, is this EL?

Good deal lmk how it goes. My last tune needs to be worked with. There is so much timing pulled below 2k it's near impossible to enjoy the car with the ACT clutch unless your reving to 3k to slip the clutch everywhere....

Jmonty 02-20-2014 01:24 AM

I am in Chicago but will work on getting a video up

BRZPDX 02-20-2014 01:49 AM

I'm going to have Erich tune my car after IC install and go about 9 ~ 10 psi.

I do think we get caught up on certain tuners being God like (John Reed) but in the information age, and proper education, I think experience may be the only thing that separates most tuners. I remember Bob saying John uses like the most basic tuning tool, doing Lambo's and shit. And even to Bob, he is about 10 years ahead of him.

PRE is a business, and even with the waiver saying they have no responsibility when shit happens, they are not going to have a failing tuner destroy all reputation they have built up. According to Jason, Bobby and Erich has different personalities regarding the tuning, and Bobby can be described as the "natural", and Erich is "calculated". He knows he has taken over a huge responsibility and a big hole to fill, this is his opportunity to shine and I can't see his personality type really fucking up this position.

Just popped a P0420 (catalyst efficiency below threshold) last night. Get that code ironed out your tune folks! :0) Header guys.. I'm talking to you. I've got both cats, but exhaust flow must be too fast for the catalyst to heat up properly.

This code usually pops if you are catless. If you have a cat that is concerning ahaha.

Cat in header downpipe is getting swapped anyway for different reasons, so we will see.. :)

I know how meth works. I also have seen meth on cars with stock cats with no issues. Just saying. :)

I have no doubts that you do. :) Since I don't have stock cats, likely I'll need an o2 spacer on the secondary bank. The hi-flow cat may be disrupting normal emissions operation. I am not ready to disable P0420 since I want to stay compliant. I still don't think the cat on the header downpipe is heating up enough. It's not a big deal really. For those purchasing the PRE header, you'll probably end up disabling P0420.

Btw, Evan, on pump + meth your car made 276whp today. I'm not a huge fan of the injectors but it drives really good on the pump tune. Draining the gas and getting ready to tune on e85. The corn tune shound be even smoother because it will allow those port injectors to run at a more efficient pulse width.

Thank you. We didn't add power adders, so the power on pump is consistent with the last run on stock injectors and pump, which makes me happy. 10-4 on the injectors.. They were meant for the additional scalability to support corn juice and future power adders. ;) I plan to run this thing 95% of the time on E85, so can't wait to see results for that! :)

Good job Erich!

Eat your vegetables..

Jmonty 03-06-2014 12:35 AM

Even,

car sounded great good luck on the corn power!

Erich adjusted my tune so no more crazy cold start ups

anyone with a BRZedit tune should go see Erich for an update

plan to get before and after videos posted soon

OmarGC 03-06-2014 01:13 AM

I want this exhaust manifold...
