Anyone in Santa Cruz tonight? Flat tire and no OEM wheel lock tool Need help now!!!
Ran over a nail and apparently the dealer didn't put the OEM wheel lock tool in my car when I bought it.
Sooooo I'm stranded at the firestone on water and ocean with no ability to put my spare tire on to get home to redwood city. If anyone is in Santa Cruz and has an OEM wheel lock tool that could stop by you would be a life saver! Phone is 801-244-2121 - Tyler |
have you tried calling roadside assistance?

Yeah called the Subaru roadside assistance.....they work with local towing and AAA like businesses and the drivers don't have keys for any kind of wheel locks.
Makes sense to run the service this way. Much cheaper to utilize services that already exist rather than building all new business all over the country. Firestone said they could do it only to find out 2.5 hours later they couldn't. That was not awesome. But in the end was able to use the ladyfriends mom's AAA account to get the car flatbedded home. I'll just get a key from the dealer down the street in the morning. Glad it's figured out but damn what a waste of the day. Riding some motocross bikes tomorrow will make up for it though. |
there is actually a way to take off the lug with a socket that is a little bit smaller than the lug- use a mallet to get it in the slowly rotate to take off- search you tube- that's how I got all if mine out

so the moral of the story is, OEM wheel locks suck. they are more of a hindrance to the rightful owner, than a deterrent to a would-be thief with the right tools. not worth having them IMHO, I took mine off.
If you run wheel locks on your car, you should always verify ASAP that you have the key present before you go anywhere. It's like a no-win situation... keep the key in your car and it's obviously not much of a security measure. Leave it at home and you're potentially stuck like OP if something goes wrong. Dunno, maybe you can make a medallion out of it and wear it with you at all times LOL. |
I hate wheel locks. I change my wheels way to often for that shit.
