TRD CF shark fin (86) vs STi tS fender garnish (BRZ) comparison

Figure I'd document this since I currently am in possession of both items.

The STi piece is identical to the factory BRZ piece, except with a much larger outer satin silver cover w/ STi logo molded in.

The TRD CF piece (as well as the non-CF cheaper fender fin) has a much smaller plastic "frame" for the fender clips, and the entire outer cover is one-piece molded dry carbon.

Personally I like the sti ones better. :)

TRD fin looks really off on this car, the random curve just doesn't look good.

I liked the STI one more.

However, I still want the chrome fender trim.

Any suggestion that I can make chrome fender trim on the STI one

instead of silver?

Thanks a lot.

That fin is probably the most hideous things I've ever seen... STI one is nice.

Buy STi piece. Remove STi cover. Chrome it yourself, redo STi pink.

Did that mean you're selling the TRD ones?

I'd hope it's not random, and that it creates some downforce, and maybe reduce some drag caused by the mirrors. I'm probably overly optimistic though.

The ricer in me says no.
The enthusiast in me says no.
The reasonable person in me says yes.

It's meant to clean up airflow going over the mirrors. The shape is deliberate.

HI Alex,

I do not have too much experience. I have some questions as below.

1. Do you meant the fender trim (bar) can disassemble from the fender
panel?

2. How to chrome it? I ask three body shops in my area. They told me
that there is no go quality chrome paint. I tried to search plasti dip.
I also cannot fine the chrome one.

Please let me know. Thanks again.
