Ability to view forum with a uniform style?

How hard would it be to implement an option to view the forum using a single font/color? Some users choose annoying fonts, colors, or text sizes and I'd like the ability to have a uniform style instead of dealing with these people trying to be unique.

An additional feature that I'd be interested in would be the ability to replace the smileys with some sort of text. Instead of seeing :thanks: you'd just see the text :smiley text here:.

So instead of seeing pics & vids, it just reference back to the site address it came from & if it's attached, you just see the words "attachment 1", don't see any avatar pics, sig pics, site logo, other click buttons...

Sorry, what was the reason again?

Like Ichi I'm confused as to why you'd want to do that. I can understand when people use some really annoying fonts, but if that's a trend of theirs I just add them to my ignore list. If it's just one post I just ignore it and move on.

Well I enjoy most image attachments, I was just looking for a way to view the forum where all the posts appear without font/color personalization and without smilies. [img] attachments would be untouched. You can already turn of signatures and avatars so that wouldn't be added, and I wasn't speaking about the actual forum layout either. I just meant a way to have the posts themselves appear without 15 smilies and blue comic sans text, if that makes sense.

However! I didn't know that you could just ignore people, so I'll just do that instead if a person is consistently annoying.

Thanks ichi and dave!

When I'm at sea, bandwidth is limited to the point that a feature as Ichi described would allow me to view the forums. Whereas, without that feature I wouldn't be able to.

Now, I'm pretty sure I'm the only one on here in the Canadian Navy, so I'm probably the only one that needs to worry about this. So it probably isn't enough of a problem to worry about. But if there is sufficient interest, I'd appreciate the feature.

Maybe when WoW & other member make the App, it might help w your limited bandwidth problem :)

For your issue you'd want to avoid all images I would think. Hiding smileys and text colors/annoying fonts won't do much for bandwidth issues.

Luckily under your control panel, settings & options, edit options you have an option called "Show Images" (as well as Show signatures and Show Avatars) which you can disable. That would make the site basically text only and would help with a severely bandwidth limited connection.
