Hum/hiss when audio off? (BRZ)
Hello everyone,
I have a buzz/hiss/hum coming from the speakers whenever the head unit is on (about half way through the splash screen it starts). Its not noticeable when actually driving. Its a constant so not tied to volume. Its not a big deal but I still want to troubleshoot if its normal since OEM Audio Plus told me it should be completely silent. Can anyone comment if they have buzz/hiss? Especially those with aftermarket amp/speaker but stock head unit? I also notice its tied to the day/night setting of the nav display. In night, with the much darker UI, its just a slight hiss and not noticeable but when in day mode it has quite a buzz. EDIT: I swapped back to stock temporarily just to test... exact same buzz/hiss except quieter (which makes sense since the amp is more powerful hence louder hiss/buzz). Crappy stock head units... grumble grumble |
I have the exact same thing in my frs when I upgraded the amp. Tried everything. I used a ground loop isolator, which quieted it to about the same as before amp upgrade.. About to do hu upgrade.. Hopefully this will solve permanently

I've had the same thing since day 1 of ownership. No idea how to make it go away, but it really doesn't bother me since most of my time in the car is at 70+ mph...

It's a.. Bad.. Fix, I did it to see if it would work, but I spliced mine directly into the input of the amp.. I'll take a photo later this week

Haven't heard it yet. Driving a Limited, so it's keyless.

I have the same hiss on a BRZ limited with OEM Audio+ and similarly I only notice it when listening with loud volume while the car is stopped and the music is some acoustic music with quiet section.
Not a deal breaker for me since I don't notice it most of the time and the systems sounds awesome otherwise, but would be cool if there was a reasonable fix. |
Did changing out the head unit solve any of the hissing issue?
