R/T Tuning's Project FR-S

With the huge volume of ZC6 and ZN6 cars coming to us for service and tuning we decided to pick up one of our own as a shop demo vehicle and product testing base.

What better way to keep our customers informed on what works and what doesn't than to test those products on our own car with the dyno? We will be dyno testing different products on this car and posting those results here and at the R/T Tuning blog.

The car was strapped to our dynojet on it's very first day home for some baseline testing.

With no physical modifications or changes made to the car we began to tune the ECU with ECUTek software. This graph goes to show you that even in a 100% stock trim the car can benefit from a professional tune.
Stock peak horsepower checked in at 166.77 whp. After tuning we now register 180.29 whp.
Stock peak torque was 136.16 ft/lbs on the stock tune. After a R/T Tune torque rose to 150.13 ft/lbs. 100% completely stock!

Stay tuned for more product installs, dyno testing, and impressions on how the car feels when being used for drifting or autoX. :party0030:

Nice...

Very nice gain!

We were impressed as well. That is the kind of number we've seen from cars with bolt ons in the past. We did spend a lot of time on the dyno with the car which will enable us to be really familiar with the tricks that these cars benefit from. That in turn means better tunes for our customers.

We've posted a few new pictures up on our blog! Check it out!

Tony Angelo's drift car.

That's really impressive gains from just a tune. I'd be curious to see what you guys get on a stock car with just an aftermarket header + tune.

That is the car that we sponsor for FormulaD competition and is driven by Tony Angelo. While the engine stuff doesn't cross over into most street car applications we have learned a ton on suspension and alignment components/settings through testing on this car.

Addressing one of the only exterior deficiencies of the FR-S. We decided on all red Spec-R Tuning lights and clear markers.
