19's with a SC
 

All - Anyone has experience of using 19's with a Super Charger Kit? I understand the handling goes out the window a little and also the FR-S DNA (slide) will too go out the window. Anything else I am missing if I go with 19's?

Im just a commuter that needed a lil more HP & Tq for my daily commute...

Looks, ride comfort, handling, acceleration, will all decline with 19's. Why not settle on 18's? This is a small car; I can understand 19's on a Mustang, Camaro, Genesis, etc, all much bigger cars. 18's will look very nice without going overboard, and not kill performance depending on what you get.

Well actually with 19s you are probably going to have smaller sidewall tires which means they aren't going to be able to hold the same amount of grip as something with a larger sidewall. Which means you will probably be more likely to slide in a corner!

If you want maximum performance go with 17s(or if you are even more hardcore go with 16s!). Braking, handling, accelerating, all will be affected with smaller wheels. 18s provide all the style with a few draw backs. To be honest, there is no reason to go with 19s.

2 guys from the Philippines are supercharged with 19" 57 Xtremes. They're both members here. Nikdeng (HKS SC) and TYE300 (Vortech). TYE300 races but uses a different set of wheels. But I'm sure he's tried the 19's on the track as well. Maybe you could Pm them.

If it's just gonna be a street car, get the wheels you like.

That sounds just silly! Surely you're not concerned with making your car faster if you are putting 19" "anchors" on it? 18's are perhaps a better / lighter choice. As for slide concerns, it's tire width, not diameter that makes all the difference..in your case.

Also, if you're adding power, you'll likely need tire width to get that power (traction) down. Bear in mind that a tire that's "too wide" will not fair well in the snow...if that's a possibility in your location. I only have my FRS, so I must choose wisely.

With supercharger, I would just use wider width 18s accompanied with wider tires. I feel 19s are tad too big. Maybe an 18/19 staggered setup but I dunno. That's my opinion though.

You'll be missing tire options, but if you don't care about that. Go for it.

What the hell does the compressor in the engine have to do with the size of your wheels?

Reconsider 19" wheels/tires for comfort of a DD. Then reconsider this car and get a V6 Camry for DD duty. Or a 'vert Stang V6.

19's are not so bad for DD. I've been using my 19's for DD for two years now. Of course it's a lot different from stock, but the ride comfort is only a tad harsher than 18's. That's how I feel though, some people might say otherwise.
I tried the 19's on track and I'd say just stick to 17's or 18's for track duties.
Supercharging the car would really help if you want to use 19's, as the added power can overcome the weight. I've reviewed wheel sizes for the track on my build thread. Hope it helps you.
