DRL Customization Issue
 

Ok so I went to the dealership to get my drl off while driving. They said that I would lose my high beams all together. They would never come back on at all. WTF!? Has anyone had them done and this happened? Also my headlights come on when I lock/unlock my car, I wanted to take that off as well and he aid it's a safety feature and they couldn't turn it off. Again has anyone had this issue? Oh my frs doesn't fall Under the tsb for the ecu. The car was made in 3/2013

i turned off my DRL with toyota techstream, same software the dealer uses, my high beams work perfectly, they must be in-experienced or LAZY... though the process takes all of 1 minute start to finish with the toyota software...

if your ECU doesn't fall into the TSB range, than its the newer ecu already, dealer or anyone with techstream shouldn't have a problem disabling the DRL's for you.

you must have an auto if your headlights come on when you lock/unlock? there is a setting for that in techstream as well, but you can only change the amount of time the lights stay on, if i am not mistaken (which i may be) i don't think there is an option to turn that safety feature off completely. I have a manual, so my frs does not have the auto headlight feature with lock/unlock.

Yeah its an auto. So they are just being lazy or inexperienced. Thanks for the info man

I'd try another dealership, or buy $20 cable for obd2, and download tech stream and DIY

The headlights coming on when you unlock your car is another techstream option. Nothing to do with auto/manual.

The auto headlight feature is in tech stream regardless of auto/manual, but the feature is only active on the auto, or 10/ monogram with auto on headlights. I'd love it if my mt had the auto feature, would be nice to light up my path up the driveway
