How long do you expect the stock clutch to last?
 

I'm at 54,xxx miles right now and I think that my stock clutch might be on it's way out. Getting in to first from neutral is starting to get tougher than it's been before. At 55K I'm due for another trans/diff fluid change, but it feels like more than older fluids are causing this tough engagement.

This seems to be about the right time, but just wondering what other people thought.

I don't think that is a symptom of normal clutch wear.

I'm not on the stock clutch anymore, but I should expect any stock clutch to last 100k for sure.. 150-200k+ with good driving techniques and not too much stop-n-go.

Edit: FWIW, I had a '93 Honda Civic with 244k miles. I bought it at just over 100k miles and I never replaced the clutch. That car just didn't know how to die though.. was on 3 cylinders the last 2 years of its life.

I've had 4 manuals with up to 120K miles and I've never replaced a clutch.

That's been the symptom of every of the other 17 manual cars I've driven. If the clutch isn't engaging it's hard to get into first, but easier once you get rolling.

I figured with multiple auto-x events a few track days and some weekend drifting fun 50-60K would be about right. Or maybe I need a trans fluid change more than I thought I did.

Now that I think about it, I've only had to change 2 clutches on cars due to wear, usually they were either upgrades or throwout bearings going bad...and if you're in there anyway might as well do a change.

I expect my clutch to last until it wears out.

I would expect 50-60k with hard driving.

You should expect 50k if you LIVE at the track. 100-120k under normal usage should be easy.

My first car was a Saturn SL1 that had the stock original clutch at 320,000 miles. It'd do roll-back burn-outs all day. The clutches in those cars were beastly for the size/weight of the car though...

236,445.24 kilometers.

I just hope mine lasts like my dd truck's has(built for auto-x)...'07 Silverado 5spd/stock clutch with 120k miles..and still going strong.

Honestly if you're worried about it, get a stage one clutch. It's not an extremely expensive replacement and it's still close to stock but will have a little more grab than stock. Might as well lol.
