Dezod Motorsports dual catback exhaust

http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...ps0cce76e3.jpg

Hey everyone, I just finished up another install and review video! Dezod just released their cat-back exhaust system, I love it.

[ame]http://youtu.be/LkaDaLa106Y[/ame]

Let me know what y'all think or if you have any questions.
I love doing vids like this and want to keep doing em so any suggestions for improvement are welcome too :-)

10/17/14 update
Long term thought and review:
It's a bittersweet thing just how many aftermarket options are available to us 86 drivers; the amount of choices can get overwhelming. Before choosing my exhaust system, I shopped around extensively, listening to sound samples, reading reviews, and examining the different designs for the many different exhaust options available. I've now had Dezod's cat-back exhaust system on my 2013 Scion FR-S for over 8 months, I can say I am 100% happy with my purchase.
I chose Dezod's system for several reasons. The system design seemed spot on. The layout is very symmetrical and seemed to take a much simpler and more direct approach than other systems. The amount of bends is reduced significantly.
Out of the box, I was immediately impressed. The quality actually exceeded my expectations from looking at pictures. Clean bends, solid welds, beefy hangers and thick flanges. Sold. Installation was straightforward; I had no problem accomplishing the job in my garage with basic tools and jack stands. Fit was exact. All the components lined up well. The front end of the mid-pipe accepted the stock donut gasket perfectly and new high quality gaskets included with the system sealed up the rear joints. At the bumper, the cut-outs that once looked cavernous and empty were now filled out perfectly, finally looking intentional and purposeful. From a low angle, the twin mufflers just peek out from behind the diffuser. The split lines up perfectly with the tip of the rear fog lamp adding a subtle symmetrical accent feature. Quality, fit, and appearance were all good... and sound? Check. The car finally sounds the way it should. Zero rasp, zero drone not too loud, and a deep tone. Especially when you lay into the throttle. It honestly doesn't sound "aftermarket" at all. It sounds like a factory performance car. This also means there's plenty of room to grow. Go ahead and add cat-less headers if the noise won't bother you, but stand-alone the exhaust note is refined and tasteful.
I've put over 5000 daily driven miles on this exhaust. It's seen a frigid and salty winter and long heated runs in the summer. It's holding up quite nicely; the finish is still rust free. On the few long drives I've had, I never felt annoyed by the sound. Again, no drone. I get compliments on the system all the time. It's still one of my favorite additions to my FR-S. If you have any questions about the system, just give the guys at Dezod a call. Their customer service is excellent.

I also made a dedicated sound sample video that I already shared in the exhaust compilation thread:

Great video and amazing DIY - thanks! This should also go in the DIY sub-forum.

shootin pumpkins outta those pipes in the off season?

*KID* 02-10-2014 03:30 PM

Sounds great, Looks great, and price is great.

reardrv 02-10-2014 07:50 PM

I like the design, I like the sound, and I like the price. I might have to pic this up.

xDanger_208x 02-10-2014 08:08 PM

Just out of curiosity...
How do you suppose this will sound "volume wise" compared to the Perrin, Invidia Q300 and Milltek?
I want something quiet.. But this thing is gorgeous!

TheBatman 02-11-2014 10:11 AM

xDanger_208x
I haven't heard any of those systems in person so I can't really draw a good comparison... But I think the volume on this perfect, not too loud at all. At idle inside the car there's barely a difference at all, but when you get on it, it really opens up nicely.

I actually did weigh everything out it breaks down as follows

Stock Exhaust

Mid pipe: 11.5 lbs
Rear section: 28.5 lbs

TOTAL: 40 lbs

Dezod Exhaust

Mid section: 9.5 lbs
S-section: 3 lbs
Rear section: 16 lbs

TOTAL: 28.5 lbs

So there's a weight savings of about 11.5 lbs.

Really nice review. I wonder what this sounds like with a header?

I'm curious as well.
I'm certain it'll be loud though.. Which destroys my plan of getting one.

The volume sounds excellent on a factory header from the videos I've watched. But so did my tomei.

I'm certain the dezod on a full single cat header back is going to be very loud.
You almost have to use an exhaust with a large side mounted rear muffler to have a hope in hell of keeping these cars civil.

vgi,Great document! Didn't know that was out there... How are most people measuring dB levels? I could try to get some this weekend...

xDanger_208x, even a catted header increases volume that much? I wouldn't have expected that

The DIY is exceptional. Well done TheBatman. Are you a video editor by trade?

These God forsaken Subaru motors are the devil with any decent flowing manifolds on it. This exhaust appears to have a lot of sound deadening things on it with the long resonator and two smaller mufflers, which I feel will be quite more forgiving than many other systems out there.

I have a JDL catless header, JDL overpipe and JDL catted frontpipe.
The Tomei 60s I had on their sounded like my old straight piped, supercharged track Focus. It was ridiculously crazy loud and raspy.

xDanger_208x 02-11-2014 01:17 PM

If anyone wants to order one of these.. I have a proposition for you.

I'll order one and install it... I won't drive it. I just want to start the car and hear it idle and rev. That's all I need to hear to know if I'm going to be happy with it.

If it's too loud for my setup, I'll sell it to you for the $765 price.. FREE SHIPPING.
It'll cost me $60 shipping from the manufacture, but I'm willing to eat that just to see how it sounds. That's how interested I am in this exhaust.

If anyone's interested in saving a few bucks let me know and we'll work something out ;)

Tempting deal for someone. I am going to order one directly from the manufacturer, but I wasn't set on this, then I would be all over than proposition.

EMS Guy 02-13-2014 10:24 AM

Well, just called and spoke to someone there and they said there will be a limited amount available at the price shown on the website. So, with that being said, it's looks great, price is spot on and I am VERY tempted now even more to pull the trigger on it. Damn......getting paid tomorrow. I might just bite the bullet and wait the several weeks I was quoted before it ships. I mean the stars are aligning I suppose for me here. Anyone else feel this way? Thoughts?

TheBatman 02-13-2014 04:54 PM

do it! you'll love it.

Just updated original post with a photo I took of the full system laid out.

reardrv 02-13-2014 05:43 PM

It does look like a nice system, I just wish the tips weren't so huge.

TheBatman 02-13-2014 05:55 PM

The cut outs in the bumper are massive though. I wouldn't want em any smaller.

CajunFRS 02-13-2014 05:58 PM

In for video with header!!! Thing sounds good but I'm thinking it might be more N1 level and not so much Q300

Agreed 1000% here. Have any you taken a good look at the cut outs for the exhaust in the rear valence? They're enormous.

http://image.motortrend.com/f/wot/mt...S-rear-end.jpg

Tips are dwarfed inside of the valence. This exhaust it looks like fills it nicely.

One more.........Again, I think it looks great.

reardrv 02-14-2014 04:37 PM

I'll agree that the stock one are WAY too small. But I'm just not really a fan of the giant tips on this exhaust, to me it looks a little cartoonish.

TheBatman 02-14-2014 04:57 PM

Yeahh I guess it's a bit of personal preference... I kinda like a little oversize. But most importantly thank goodness it's not canister style. I can't stand that look anymore.

TheBatman same school of thought there. HATE the FF looking fart cans. I am ordering this week Friday when I get paid.

EMS Guy 02-21-2014 01:02 PM

Ordering mine right now!

Went to a car meet this weekend and got a bunch of compliments.... Even a few of the die-hard domestic guys were diggin it, which is saying something being in Detroit and all haha

EMS Guy 02-25-2014 03:14 PM

I ordered mine on Friday.........now the waiting game.

EMS Guy 02-27-2014 01:55 PM

Well, just got a phone call from a nice fella there saying their production plant is backed up and won't have my exhaust to me until the end of May.

Kudos on service that's for sure.

Boo on MORE wait time. Damn. I told him I would contact them back with my answer to hold the order or cancel.

EMS Guy 03-13-2014 03:12 PM

I have decided to wait for the exhaust. Anyone else?

EMS Guy 07-10-2014 11:52 AM

BUMP UPDATE

Well, we are now into July and my exhaust finally has a tracking number coming to me. At least these guys kept me in the loop throughout the entire process. I can say that. I was a little worried about it for a while. They even threw in some goodies as a "thanks" for waiting. I can't complain. Now for Fed Ex to bring it to my doorstep. Ahhhh....the joys of patience.

How long is the waiting time?

chicagokid 07-16-2014 10:06 AM

There should be a group a buy on this!! I was gonna get the Perrin, but with this now I can't decide. Both are solid catbacks.

They are shipping right away now. I got mine and man, the pictures on their site doesn't do it much justice at all. Fab work is top notch. I am really impressed. I am going to put it on and start a thread of my own next week after I have it on. :threadjacked:

Go with this (now that I have it in hands and on the car). It's just for lack of better words, wow. I am writing my own thread right now.
