Market value of FRS with Vortech SC

What would be a market value increase of a FR-S with a professionally installed Vortech supercharger+intercooler and associated mods like performance exhaust, radiator and oil cooler upgrades (~10k parts/labor) over the normal price.

$1k - $2k, maybe.

Depends on who your talking too, most people would assume its been abused and value would possibly decrease. But if someone wanted the kit In the first place he might pay you more, maybe 2k. It's difficult to say for sure, you just need to find the right person. The seller would also need a really good reason of getting rid of the car.

I think you are more likely to lose value than gain it by adding any forced induction. I would never buy it... Or anything else that someone had boosted for that matter.

You embark on that kind of path to enjoy the journey.

What they said.

ditto..

i don't ever like buying modified cars. more often then not, you end up buying someone else's mistakes, which i never consider an improvement.

and in this day and age, i don't even trust 'professionally installed' gear-- some 'professionals' can barely read the installation manual correctly.. i've seen a lot of botched car stereo and alarm installs that were 'professionally installed', so to me, that title only means you're advertising the fact that you paid someone else to install it in lieu of doing it yourself..

also-- all car valuation places like kbb/edmunds/etc are based on the car itself, not additions to the car.. so most places you go to get the car appraised won't even consider giving you more then fair market value for car as it came from the factory...

appreciate all the replies.

Guess with my Toyota and 86 badging, it will increase it by 10%, but lose that 10% with a 10k investment in FI.

Lol, not saying this in a bad way, but how can swapping badges possibly increase value? It's not like it can be sold as a GT86 or anything.

Unless you were joking and I'm just taking it seriously. :bonk:

BRZ21 02-09-2014 10:02 PM

probably less than if you didn't have it

86-tundra 02-09-2014 10:07 PM

you will get significantly more by parting it.

EZWood 02-09-2014 10:09 PM

i know someone who will buy it real cheap... lol just messin with you. im assuming since you didnt do the install you dont have the stock parts. if you were in az id trade you my stock bits for the supercharger. it'd probably increase the value of your car in the eyes of a prospective buyer.

Put it this way:

Others have sold cars with mods ($10-15k) for around the price of the car, new.

So you're looking at a $10-15k loss.

"Increase in value" is all dependent on your starting point, especially if the mods have mileage on them along with the rest of the car.

Parting out is the way to go if you ever wanted to sell your car.

Always keep your original parts. Every piece.
When it comes time to sell, restore it to original condition. Sell off the mod parts.

I steer clear from buying used cars that have any modification that adds power.
