4th gear grind

Ok I noticed this morning anytime I'm speed shifting from 3 to 4th gear it gives me a bit of a grind. Do you think my dealer will have a problem replicating the problem because it doesn't do it unless your shifting hard.

How hard we talking here?
Downshifting to 5th gear was grinding but only at certain speeds and my dealer couldn't replicate it. I ended up taking it to another dealer, who was able to, and they ended up having to replace the entire transmission.

If they can't replicate it, take it to another dealer.

I've only replicated repeatedly at redline.

After about a 20 minute test drive, after 5500rpm it gives me a little resistance. After 6000rpm it gives me a bit of a grind. I can get it in gear but there is significant amount of resistance and a clunky sound to it.

Well, I reckon the biggest problem a dealer would have in reproducing this grinding sound going from 3rd to 4th at red line, is finding a place where he could get it up to 80 MPH .... :)

I have this same issue, mine will grind at about 5500 to 6000 RPM from 3rd to 4th, and only after the tranny is warmed up from about 10 min of driving.

Dealer said it was a Syncro issue and they are replacing the whole tranny.

It was fine until I hit the 10K mileage mark, prior to that this thing shifted perfectly smooth. (I don't race or track the car, or drive like ass).

My only worry is it creeping up again if this is some kind of design flaw.

yup mine does it and I only have 8k miles, 5500rpm and up but mine is 2nd to 3rd gear. I've been to lazy to take it in.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem. Makes me feel a little better about taking it to the dealer.

I'll be in for service later this month. I'll see what they say then.
