NEED HELP BUYING. ALL CMTS Welcome

Hey guys,

I'm new to the forum, currently I drive a 335i. It has a JB4 tune, intake, oil catch can, downpipes, ACT Street clutch, brand new OEM flywheel, LUX halos, 20" Vossen.. etc.. etc.. Will be parting out to trade in.

Anyways, I'm currently looking to buy an FRS, because I want something that will be better on gas and is trackable (Yes, I know the 335i is trackable, but my pockets ain't that deep). So I decided to trade my 335i in for an FRS, and also looking to pick up a Prius C for my mother. So being that I am buying two cars at once, and my credit is amazing.. I can finance it all after putting the BMW down. But here's where the problem comes in..

I went into the local Toyota/Scion dealership and they were trying to give me only 10k for my 335i (KBB had me at 14k trade in, Blackbook had me at 13K) and wanted to charge me 28k for asphalt FRS with I don't even know what upgrades that brought the thing up that high.. I asked them to fine me a WHITE one with no upgrade.. HAS TO BE A MANUAL and only upgrade I want is the $875 radio. I'm happy with the $27k out the door they were trying to give me for the Prius though..

My question is, what SHOULD I be paying for a White FRS with JUST the radio? Because they said they found me a bone stock FRS with nothing in it.. for $25,600. And I told them that if they can get me out the door for around $10k before taxes on the FRS then we might have a deal, since I'm buying TWO CARS from them.. I thought this might be one hell of a deal.. since they get close to $40k off of me, and on top of the fact that they get a car out of it to re-sale..

Sorry if this was unclear to read, I've been waiting all day to post this.. and I've been reading on this forum for almost a good 2 weeks now.

Scion pricing is non negotiable. What you see is what you pay.

A 2014 Scion FRS Manual -- Non Monogram Series with a radio added.... is 27048 before taxes.

Whiteout also has an additional 395 dollars tacked on for the pearl paint.

You should be able to get a base FR-S for around $25,000 plus the radio upgrade, fees and taxes. I don't know what part of Florida you're in but check prices on the internet and use competitive pricing with internet managers. My local dealer just adds $2000 to FR-S MSRP pricing in case someone falls for it.

scion says it is not negotiable, but I bought my FRS and negotiated. Dealers are not supposed to, but they will. I thought they would not negotiate, but they did.

Rule of thumb. You can usually get any car for the sticker price, out the door (including tax, title and tag)

I don't really care what dealer, but it has to be a dealer. Because I'm also looking to buy a Prius C

I thought so too, I don't know how they told me it's not "negotiable" the tuesday I went in.. but they called me Wednesday afternoon telling me that they can work something else.. and they also found a car for 25k.

Lmao, they are not going to sell you an fr-s for 10k, you're dreaming

I'm not asking them to sale me an FRS for 10k, I'm asking them to take in the fact that I am buying two cars, and giving them a BMW. So the least they can do is give me 14-15k for my BMW, because I know for a fact that they are gonna turn around and sale it for 3-4k more.

gotcha. wasn't clear at all.

you get screwed with the menu pricing thing. unless you can find a 2013, you'll likely pay right at 25k

I would recommend passing on the $900 radio that can be purchased for much less thru someone like pioneer

bcj 02-07-2014 12:05 AM

Don't bother with the radio. Really.
Get a much better system aftermarket. Probably for less.

Buddhalite 02-07-2014 08:31 AM

Take your BMW to a CarMax and see what they'll offer you and then present that to the dealer.

GTHachiRoku 02-07-2014 08:38 AM

Don't let the dealers fool you. They won't give the best price on your trade in, sadly that's just how dealers work. However, Jan/Feb is a great time to buy. You should search around for left over 2013 models on both the Prius C and the FR-S.

I got a Prius base model for $19k out the door last February. Prius C's were even cheaper. They needed to get rid of the 2012 models to bring in the 2013's. Then in June I bought my FR-S for $23k out the door and it had several upgrades, but it was one of 3 2013's they had left (they still have the other two and they're going for cheap, but they're Argento and Hot Lava).
