Nice Drive coming up

Hi everyone,

I plan to drive up to Berkeley from LA in 2 weeks with the FR-S. I plan to take PCH hitting Big Sur, Point Lobos, 17 Mile Drive, etc.

Any suggestions or things I should be aware of for the FR-S? I had the car checked out already and all fluids and brakes and what not are in good shape.

How comfy are the seats in a long trip? anyone taken this route yet? how does the car do on the twisties?

Currently have 5,200 miles on the clock. Thanks

PCH is fun but clogged with tourists, 17 Mile drive is a pay to drive road ($10 iirc and they don't allow motorcycles :mad0260:). As for comfort, if you have 5200 miles logged then you should have a pretty good sense for it. And for "how does it do in the twisties?". That is what this car was made to do. When you get to South Bay check out this map for some great roads to really put that to the test.

Just be careful. Got my first speeding ticket in 25 years because I was having too much fun in the "twisties" :bonk:

For what it is worth, last November I drove from Florence Oregon, down 101 all the way to Ventura County. I stopped twice for gas, once for some fries at McDonalds and it took me 14 hours straight. I got out of the car and slept like a baby with no aches or pains...even the next morning(I'm 67). The seats are really good and I suggest you get an arm rest...best thing I have purchased for this car so far.

WOW - fun drive!

I've driven that route in a 1970 MGB, a 2006 Miata and my FR-S. Fun drive! So many things to see!

Last summer we drove from Seattle to Cambria and back in out FR-S. We found it to be quite comfortable for long haul driving.

The car does just fine on the coast twisties ..... be more concerned about the drivers coming at you .... http://www.runemasterstudios.com/gra...ages/crazy.gif

The traffic shouldn't be too bad this time of year.....:)

Have fun and be safe!

Be cautious, lots of cyclists combined with a daily mist/spray from the ocean and assorted sand rocks and grit PCH is not the most ideal situation grip wise. Don't try to be a hero, lots of tourists milling around in RV's and SUV's.

Very glad I did it in my FRS, if I had the time I'd do it every time instead of 5.

With the rain this week, you might want to check the highway department web site.
Possibility of washouts in heavy weather. It's a great road in any case and the FRS is made for it.

Was down there last April. Should be less congested this time of year (if it's not closed).
