Some doubts about doing some work--what if I find I have a lemon for example?
 

I'm probably gonna do a few things to my car soon, despite it still being under warranty. Such as clutch/flywheel, driveshaft, intake, headers, tune, wheels.

Part of me is totally fine with this. But another part of me thinks about what if my car turns out to be a lemon, say in another 5,000 miles. Then I'll have all these parts on the car, and might have a hard time proving that it's not my fault.

Then again, I feel that modern cars such as ours are pretty darn reliable and I really shouldn't worry and should get busy livin life.

Thoughts and similar situations?

My 2011 Altima was a lemon... soo I wouldn't necessarily say "modern cars are petty darn reliable".

Yea, I think there are always gonna be some lemons. I've read about a few people who have had lemons for the FRS. Besides that, modern cars are pretty reliable imo.

I decided I'm not touching a damn thing till the warranty is over. But that's me, do what you want, what you want with your car.

If you are thinking that much I think you should just leave the car stock instead during the entire warranty period.

Modern cars are not that reliable imho with all the crappy lead-free electrical components and cheaper raw materials. Perceived quality might have risen but real quality went the other way. Welcome to globalization.

Hey at least you didn't pay 200k for a British built Aston Martin that came with "counterfeit plastic" gas pedal arms from China that breaks. :D

1 year, and 3 months of ownership, not a single major issue. Just the regular chirps like everyone else and I am modded. Have fun with your car. If you sit and worry about it all the time, you aren't having fun.

Why rush into it? Have you at least reached the break in period? Drive it stock for a while and get to know your car before you decide on what "needs" to be upgraded.

1 year 7 months here. I have a couple mods on my car and the chirping and minor oil leak from the rear cam plate are the only major things that have happened with my car.

Well, dave77, if your car is a "lemon", I figure it would have shown its sourness by now.

To the comment about reliability these. I'm mostly thinking about how long cars last now, way over 100,000 miles. Back in the day decades ago cars would never last that long. I'm over generalizing here, but you get the point. Remember the cars that didnt have 6 digits for the odometer.

I'm 8 months into ownership and completely stock other than air filter and brake pads for track use. Take you time with mods and don't just mod for the hell of it. Figure out what needs to be upgraded so that it fits your driving style/needs.

Warranty issues usually manifests itself during the first year of ownership. By all means, stop worrying and have fun with your car. No need to fret over something that hasn't happened yet.

I know lol. I have over 5,000 miles on my car. So I'd assume it's g2g by now. But I think I remember reading about a guy who found a lemon after like 10,000 miles +.

Btw I've had many cars before this, so I know what I like to drive. :)
