What size wheels did you put on your cars?
 

AS the question asks and how much did you lower it if any?

What has your experience been with these two modification drive-ability /practicality wise?

For the sake of answering OP's question, I am running 18's, and I lowered about an inch. I haven't tracked the car or anything after doing it, but when I do get into it a little, I haven't really noticed any difference. If anything, it feels more planted due to the lower center of gravity, and slightly meatier tires (went from 215's to 225's).

17x7.5s, lowered a little under an inch iirc. Works well even on shitty California road surfaces. Only has clearance concerns on the most deformed driveways / ramps etc-- I don't worry any more about rubbing than I did when stock.

..... so, did you actually get your car yet, or just asking questions about modding your car BEFORE you got a car?

A totally serious question, by the way. Because you seem keen on specing out all your mods but have yet to spend a single minute of ownership behind the wheel.

Here is my totally serious answer...



1. Why does it matter if I have my car yet or not? Am I suppose to jump blind in and then figure things out? Is that how you shop? Now were I never actually planing to purchase a car then it would be odd for me to be wasting my time. Just to give you an idea, I had originally planned to purchase my car in Aug 2013. Things happened and I had to push the date to Dec 13. However, timing did not favor me and so now I expect to bite within or around Dec 2014. By then, I would have enough to not even bother with a loan. So I hope that satisfies at least a part of your concern.



2. As per modding the car itself... as per any/may people excited by this car... Sure I have looked into what I would potentially want to do with the car. I. have changed my mind so many times on this that am glad that I don't own my car yet or else I would have many regrets. However, do you want to know what my real plans are? I plan to keep this vehicle bone stock for at least a year or a majority of a year... I may add an aero kit and some nice wheels but that is really about it. When I hit the year 2 mark.... I just may FI it using some Crawford parts, a lighter drive shaft etc.



3. I don't understand why you find yourself entitled to judge my interests on these forums. Are you some type of a purists who believes only actual car owners can partake in discussions? Are they the only ones with right to discuss? In fact do you own these forums? Last I checked, any individual is entitled to asking questions to satisfy his concerns and curiosity.



4. So I don't know about you, but let me paint this picture in another sense. Were we all to be jumping in a well... instead of simply taking a leap cause everyone else was doing it... (even if I was physically in the line or contemplating joining them from a distance )... I would be the one asking "How deep is the well? why are people jumping in it? how many have jumped? how many survived?" You get the idea. I'll add more later.

16x7s summer and winter, wanted lighter wheels and no plans for a BBK, but I am planning to go 20mm lower.

My goal is not to question whether you can post or not, it's meant to emphasize one thing and one thing only:

Own the car first before you spec out all your mods.

Things change, especially after driving the car for a few months. Going in, I was thinking that I'd need to mod the engine for more power, since that seems to be a "weak link" as mentioned by everyone else.

But frankly after driving the car for half a year, there's no need for power mods on my car (as far as my driving style and needs are concerned).

I'm mostly posting the question out of prior experience. As your well-jumping analogy states, the important question is asked before you make the jump... but also ask yourself, why are you in line in the first place?

If modifying the car constitutes this imaginary well-jumping line, you shouldn't be asking why in the first place, and vice versa.

I don't understand all this modifying 'stuff'. I would just buy an appropriate BMW or Nissan or Mustang or Ferrari or something else. BTW: I don't 'track' or competitively race - and don't do oil changes. But that's just me.

The ride quality is near OEM, but I wish it was lower. I may just replace the springs with coils.

Just because I ask something does not mean I am using that as an application to my potential vehicle. If your interest in interjecting in my threads is purely our of concern that I might make poor judgments then rest assured... I am not that foolish.

I have seen some other ones but I don't have the patience to go looking for them at the moment.

If I wanted to spend money on getting more horsepower, better handling, better exterior design I would spend all the money in one shot and buy, for instance, a BMW and not spend $'s on stuff to modify it because it is already done.
