Car is at the Dealer!

So, got a call today that our car had arrived earlier than expected - but having already set a "delivery date" of 5/16 - no chance of getting to take it home any sooner. Headed down to the dealership to finish up some paperwork earlier this afternoon and got a quick sneak-peek of the car! Has 7 miles on the odo, and it better stay that way for the next 2 weeks!

I dunno, you might be better off NOT knowing exactly where it is for 2 weeks - especially when it's 10 miles down the road!

Why can't you take it home sooner? If it is your car that you put a deposit on, you should be able to take it home right away.

I would expect that once they have it, they would get it cleaned and PDI'd ASAP, and that I would take it home right after that.

When I ordered my Lexus, it arrived on Monday afternoon, and I picked it up Tuesday morning. I don't want it getting looked at/sat in by everyone their uncle before I get it. Obviously that quick of a timeline may not be possible, but for the car to sit at the dealership for 2 weeks, especially when it is something as in demand as the FR-S, people are going to be touching it and/or driving it. That's not cool with me.

I agree completely. My only thinking is that we've been contacted from Scion corporate and a regional manager a couple times since the Long Beach trip about an appropriate delivery date, with the earliest being the 14th. Best date we were available was the 16th. This was set up about a month ago. Similar situation to Pekingduck I suppose - wasn't he aware of the car being at the dealer a few days before his "delivery party"?

Corporate gave dealers some cash to spend on an 'event' for the delivery of the vehicle. Ours was probably the most elaborate of the bunch since we were the first to deliver the car. So they need a few days to plan it out. We received noticed that we have to do an 'event' on 4/26 or so. Car came in Monday, 4/30 (and Peking was notified). Peking came to test drive on Tuesday (5/1). I went to put Premium gas in it on Wednesday (5/2). The event was held on 5/3. Not bad for a week's notice, huh? :bonk: I did pay the toll though, as I got sick on Friday 5/4, but back to normal now  I think all of the 'parties' may be recorded and edited for some type of use.

Exactly. It's too late to do anything about it. Had a lucky 7 miles on the Odo, better stay that way!

Peking's came in with 7 or 8. I went w/ the Tech on the PDI Test drive (approx 5 miles). Our dealership drive from the front lot to rear lot is about 1/4 mile (no lie). After everything was said and done, 21 miles were on Peking's car. He was aware of every move though =P

Jeff Lange 05-06-2012 12:31 AM

Yeah, if there is a set delivery event or something I can see that. As long as the car isn't being excessively used during the waiting period.

I'd rather get the car and bring it back for some sort of an "event" instead though, lol.

Jeff

Glad I told my regional manager that I do NOT want any sort of event.

So all the First 86 dealers got cash from corporate to throw a delivery party? Interesting...

Yep, definitely news to me. My dealer has asked me to bring the car back for a Scion Club event, which I don't have any problem with, but nothing about a launch event.

Duff_man 05-09-2012 10:56 AM

It's funny how Canada gets nothing of the launch events, as far as I know anyways, all my dealer told me is that they're trying to get a big red carpet to put in the delivery garage to get a more epic delivery since I'm getting the very first one that's going to roll out of the garage! But other then having most of the employes in the garage for the occasion, there's nothing special, unless its a surprise party. ;p
