AEM Failsafe trigger and Flex Fuel kit.
 

So if you configure your aem failsafe while running e85 but you are running a flexfuel kit wtf happens when you run 93 or some other mix of e85/93. Since afr are diff for the different fuels is the fail safe going to constantly be trigger. Is there a way to adjust on the fly?


PS. This is coming from a super noob so dont chop my nuts off if this is elementary stuff.

@sports guy83 explained it pretty well, but it's something todo with lambda and stoich, the afr reads them and manages to convert it into an afr reading :bonk:

wideband o2 sensors do not read afr, they read lambda (% richer or leaner than stoich). the lambda value is then converted by the gauge to afr for whatever fuel it is setup for. most people use regular wideband displays with e85 that still read gas afr equivalents, and most discussion is in terms of gas equivalent afr.

what are you triggering with the failsafe?

I don't have anything setup up just yet. I'm just doing some pre planning for my build. I was most likely planning to get the fail safe to trigger a limp mode map.

it would be much easier to accomplish that with a custom map if you're already using ecutek for the flexfuel.

If it's easier and just as effective then sound like that will be the way to go. I'll still get the fail safe for its functionality and data logging
