Newb question on cleaning engine bay
 

Just curious what the best approach to cleaning up the engine bay would be. A lot of salt on the roads has made it in a little and just getting some dust/grime. I don't need anything over the top, just clean up and add a little protectant/shine.

Adam's makes some fantastic products! Their APC ,VRT,and In and Out spray are great! Watch these videos! I love using the In and Out spray on my BRZ. Their All Purpose Cleaner is one of the best out there. I hope this helps! :thumbsup:

less water is better than more try to suck dry with a shop vac or compressed air at a distance. wipe dry with microfiber i alway use quick detailer on my engine bay with microfibers

Scrubbing bubbles + wheel brush + open water hose (no nozzle/sprayer)

A lot of dust/dirt piles up after awhile. I just take a spray water bottle and microfiber cloth and wipe clean the entire engine bay area.

if you stay on top of it it will never realy get that bad. whenever im having a few beers and get the itch to go drive, i just settle for cleaning my car lol.

I pride myself in making my bay immaculate, just see my build thread. I dont use any chemicals. I use a fine mist of water, run the excess off with compressed air and wipe dry.

Granted, I clean my bay every time I wash.

Whenever you service your car, make sure the dealer DOES NOT degrease the engine bay.
My engine bay has never been washed/degreased until the 2nd service when I forgot to tell them NOT to degrease it. I had the service advisor help me dry up the engine bay compartment asap straight after.

Best idea to try not to use any fluid(although detailer and microfibre are fine) if you can help it. Water just promotes quicker breakdown of some of the rubber/plastics if not attended to early.
Oh yeah, that metal clip under the hood rubber, that part rusts easily.

Vacuum and paintbrush are good to help remove dust and dirt also. If running an oil cooler, try to make sure your AN fittings are secure and tight, no fine oil mist or slight leaks.
