Scion OBDII interface to plug a tablet more information ?
 

Hi i've seen a vid fomr a guy on youtube where he had a tablet showing more information of the car with android Os. just wanted to know how that worked. Wanted to implement something like that... any advices?

If you're not looking to necessarily tune, but just to view data there are several Android apps out there. You'll need to pick up a Bluetooth OBDII adapter. I've picked up two of these for my cars and have had pretty good luck with them:

@dssence, you can also use a smart phone, if it has a android operating system (at least for monitoring).

minute 10:34 ... I can have all that using that OBD bluetooth interface?

where do I plug it and does it play any risk on screwing the ECU of my car.. all these stuff sooner or later can screw anything.. any advice?

Looks so cool. I wish I knew how to make a housing for my car to put a tablet into. I have a Nexus 7, and the tech stuff is easy to me as i'm a computer technician. Once it comes to the actual "forging" stuff though, i'm clueless.

If you install the Torque or Torque Pro app on your Android phone, you'll also be able to install and run RacingMeter.

The OBDII bluetooth adapter is easy to use. All you have to do is plug it into your OBDII port, which is located just above your gas pedal (in a LHD FRS/BRZ, at least), then connect your Android phone to the device through your Bluetooth settings.

Using the OBDII adapter and your Android only gives you access to view data, and not change anything, so there's no potential to break anything.

Once you've connected over bluetooth, you'll need to set up your vehicle profile first in the Torque app but after that you'll have access to all kinds of live data and logging.

The Torque app and it's plugins along with the RacingMeter and TrackRecorder plugins are really nice.

DashCommander gives you access to realtime data also, and I actually like the way it displays data better than Torque.

Ulysse Speedometer is better for trips and shows more basic information.

Another one that I've used and liked was the EcoShifter app. You set up your vehicle by entering your speed at 2000 RPM in each gear and it calculates your shift points for best fuel-milage along with your live fuel consumption. The UI is pretty basic but it does the job.

Tablets are a little tougher to work with because of the size but there are some options out there. Like this:

Those look really cool! Would you happen to have any pictures of your setup in your car?

Holly molly that's what I was looking for an app telling you in realtime when to make the gear shifting to properly optimize fuel. But again.. I've seen there are some OBDII interfaces which let you clear Check engine lights and so on.. you told me this one only lets you view data. So I won't be able to diagnose or reset anything?
I know about firmwares in world of computing I'm a modder myself.. and engineer and like to tweak and reverse engineer stuff.
Is there any chance as to wether download firmware images for the ECU and flash or you may run the risk of bricking the ECU of the car and having a bricked CAR should I SAY?
What do most ppl interface to OBDII on cars.. to see different graph plots on how the car injects fuel.. Can you tweak and see if there's more gasoline goin into the injectors.. or do any tweaking ?
