Kiwi Green FRS Storytime Picturebook Build

There was once a time my Raven FRS was stock, on August 19th of 2012 at about 6 o'clock -

In the beginning the plans were to add some style, so wheels and CF parts came after a while -

I also wanted to add some color but wanted it to be nice and clean, so I 'chopped some options then opted for vinyl with Hexis Kiwi Green -

I also had found that the stock lights and suspension we're weak, so I put in some LEDs, HIDs and some Teins for the street -

The car looked great and it gets so much attention that it has it's own fanbase, it still was too slow so I put in some extra ponies in the crankcase -

Now we're having some fun and I'll share one last pic with you guys, it's been 18 months long to build this beast, blood, sweat and zipties -

What lag? :burnrubber:

Florida heat killed the generic fans on the turbo kit, replacing with FullBlown radiator, shroud, SPAL fans, hoses and their oil cooler to hopefully get the bay temps down. Will post those install pics and a guide for fitment with the shroud and stage 2.

Lol yea what lag.. cool you did it yourself though. I plan to install a FBM kit most likely stage 1 w/ gtx3076r. Any tips?

Ironsquid 02-05-2014 04:27 PM

The guide it comes with does a nice job. Measure twice cut once. Find a reputable local tuner with Ecutek experience, this is key to maintaining stock drivability or even better than stock in some cases. Solder any and all electrical connections. Get yourself an omni 3 or 4 bar replacement MAP sensor and think about getting a wideband 02 as well. If you are ina hot climate consider buying better fans, bigger radiator, etc. Make sure you have gauges to monitor AFR, Boost, Oil and water temps. Make sure you have the right tools and remember its better to overdo it on zipties than have something go wrong.

I didnt mean to sound like a douche, the lag really isnt there as people expect. Im hitting 10psi around 3800-4000 but the power curve is alot smoother when compared to a smaller turbo that ramps up
boost quicker. Think of it as a more linear boost curve instead of a real steep curve. Easier on parts, easier on the tires.

nice turbo kit!

Nothing yet trying to straighten out the overheating issues with the generic FB fans. They are sending me out some better SPAL fans this week.

Should have some numbers maybe late next week if we can borrow a dyno somewhere.

So your running on base tune right now? What are your overheating issues? Do u have an upgraded radiator? Is the fan shorting out or just not pushing enough cfm?

Base tune doesnt have much to do with the heating issues. But i cant exactly run the car on a dyno with 240+ degree coolant, so no WOT tuning until we fix those issues.

The fans died internally most likely from heat incurred by hotass Miami. No shorts, just dead. FB radiator coming today or tomorrow with shroud and better fans.

The only problem I see with these fans is that they may work in northern climates but when you add 60+ degree ambient temps onto an already hot oven enclosed engine bay, you might have some issues.

FWIW, last known time the fans worked was in 40 degree weather in Orlando. The next day it was 98 degrees in Miami and fans wouldnt come on with direct power.

That is so weird, because I had the original fans from Full Blown on my car for months in both the North Florida, Central Florida, and South Florida temps and they never failed to work for me.
