Greddy Evo 3 removing the silencers
Hey guys, anyone on here having difficulty removing the silencers on the Evo 3? I removed the three hex bolts and tried yanking it out with a flanged bolt. Feels like the silencers were welded on. I also tried turning the car on for about 10 minutes to let the metal expand a bit but still no luck. Any tips?
Thanks guys! |
pull moar harder?
Try some liquid wrench, depending on how long they have been in there they could be carbon'd into place. |
Greddy Evo 3 removing the silencers
When putting back mine (after giving it one day without), I wedged one of them wrong and I had a really hard time pulling it out. I used a thick clothes hanger that I bent to hook the deep end of it and pulled very slowly increasing the force... Ended up on my ass with the silencer flying out but it worked.
Good luck! |
The silencers in all exhausts are a bitch, it's because they have to be fitted so tight. In my experience you usually have to knock them out from the back using a wooden dowl or something similar. I have wrestled them out with a screw driver and a pair of vice grips before, but you'll fuck the silencers up a bit.
