hankook v12 road noise

i just put v12s on some new wheels and have noticed mush more road noise then the stock BRZ wheels.
i was expecting similar levels of noise or quieter.

does everyone else also have more road noise from these?

Any high performance summer tire is going to have a lot more noise than the stock tires. The Michelin Primacy HP is a low rolling resistance touring tire with a focus more on comfort (e.g. low noise) than on performance.

Agressive "V style" threads are quite noisier than standard "blocks" thread. Not always the case but a good rule of thumb. Mostly right in my experience. I hate tire noise.

Also make sure they wear evenly, scalloped tires will be even noisier.

okay, Thanks

i have them and dont notice too much road noise, they might quite down as they wear in. did you have them balanced as well?

DarkestBuddha 01-31-2014 02:30 AM

not yet, going to do that in a week or so, after my newly installed coilovers settle

Hankook performance line is not well known for having quiet tires. And as they wear they get much worse.

The RS3s I actually changed at 4/32nds because they were so loud on the street it was giving me headaches.

Aside from the noise, what do you think of these tires? They're almost half the price of other tires I've looked at and I really don't want to spend $800 on a set of tires. I also don't want to cheap out on them too.

I like them alot, sidewalls are flexy but its not a deal breaker. The break in period was the longest i ever had though. For the price theres realy no room to complain.

Cool. How many miles have you put on them?

troek 02-04-2014 10:46 PM

Maybe 5,000. Lots of mountain passes and 2 track days. Plenty of tread left
