Want to trade: black BRZ limited for white
 

I pre-ordered a BRZ Limited trim from Northtown Subaru and today I received a call from the dealer to let me know my car will be arriving end of May! However, because I was third on the wait list, I did not receive my first choice of color.

I am now asking if anybody else is in my position and would like to trade? I want to trade my black BRZ, Limited trim, for a White BRZ, limited trim. The deposit amount I left was $500. The dealership is located at 3675 Sheridan Drive, Amherst, NY, very close to Buffalo. In order to trade, I'm afraid your dealership must be within driving distance from here.

Or, if your dealership is in Detroit that is fine too because I make frequent visits there.

I notice your location says Toronto... Are you planning on taking this vehicle back to Canada and insuring it there?

That kind of sucks. When I pre-ordered, they didn't mention anything about first/second choice in color - just took the color and trim I want, and put in an order for that. To not get the color you want is sort of a big deal - that would be a potential deal breaker for me.

you can't just say that you pass and wait for the next car in white? i'd be pretty upset if the dealer didn't let me pass. i could understand that they might get cars out of order, but to say that i'd lose my place by not taking what they got seems whack to me.

Yeah this is bizarre. Don't pay for/buy a car in a color you don't want. If all you've put down is a $500 deposit, either tell them you want White and you're not buying a black one or simply walk away and go to another dealer.

That's a deal breaker for me, Period. Hope someone close by trades with the OP!!

you should have right of first refusal.

When its your turn, you have the first right to say no thanks on a car as they come in, then that car goes down the line.

That's really lame. I personally wouldn't cry over it too much if I didn't get my color choice, only because I really like all of the colors offered. But I would walk away if I didn't get the trim level or transmission option I chose. You should have first right of refusal, like FLHC said.

Thanks everyone! Thats great advice, if nobody else is down for trading then I think you guys are right, I should just wait for another month or two and get the color I want.

Yep! That's the plan. Luckily BRZ Is already fully equipped to pass Canadian Admission requirements.

Do you not like any of the other colours? You could have a unique colour if you chose to go with the Lightning Red, Dark Grey Metallic or Galaxy Blue Silica.

I wish I could trade with an American. I'd trade my White in a second for a Galaxy Blue Silica. I think the Canadian version is slightly better but it'd be worth it for the GBS. :P
