Import Quantities
I was recently informed by a reliable executive within a Toyota dealership [not a salesman] that Toyota Australia had informed them that Import numbers were to be cut back in 2014.
Good news for the people that already own one but not good news for those planning a new 86 purchase. :iono::iono: |
I'd like to call bs on this one. Anyone who orders a new car will get one in the shortest possible time frame, currently as little as approx 6 weeks for a fresh order.

And to clarify this is not a dealership demo in the classifieds. This car is my own and in my registered in my name. I'm only selling as I'm changing colour before I start modifications. |

I can confirm from reliable TMCA stock control sources that the OP is correct. Toyota Australia have scaled down their production requests from the factory for 2014.
There are quite a few 86's on soil across Australia, and most of the build requests sent through in the last few months have been Dealer Stock Orders aka "DOSI's" and not Customer Orders (build requests with customer name's already against them, which prioritizes the build over a dosi). No huge concern unless the interest in the vehicles spikes again, but realistically they are just going to scale down to meet current demands, also by keeping the supply versus demand biased towards to manufacturer and not the customer, it allows the dealers to continue selling the vehicles for as close to RRP as possible and maintaining healthy gross profit, whilst making next to nothing on most other models. |
Makes sense. Explains why only 6 weeks max for a fresh order. Inquiries are about the same where I work, and there's a ton of 86s down here on the roads.
