Tired of my job...

Working at a desk all day.... When all I think about are cars, engines, and tuning.....

HELP ME!

Please have that report on my desk by the end of the day. I have left you something pink in your mailbox. Take care.

A wise man once said to me...

Never make a career out of your hobby, it steals the fun out of it.

I tend to agree.

Is not as fun as you think. By the end of the day when you go home, you will not want to think about cars and such.

Did you get the memo on the TPS reports?

Billylammerkins 01-24-2014 06:11 PM

Well I am single....

I'd rather have greasy hands all day working on cars then a suit on working on reports.....

Easier said than done but doing a job to pay the bills is brutal -- try to find something you love and be ****ing awesome at it.

There's a big difference between being a mechanic and tuning cars. Completely different.

If you want to make descent money turning wrench, go big, go diesel.

NickFRS 01-24-2014 07:58 PM

I worked on cars for a living for 4 months. Never again. Rather do it for fun.

BRZPDX 01-24-2014 08:25 PM

I think tuning would be fun. considering taking classes if they offer it.

Why not look for a desk type job in the automotive industry? I used to work as a project manager for Denso (automotive supplier). Kind of the best of both worlds. Good pay right away, and still working "with" cars. I managed the launch of several vehicles in my time with Denso, it was very exciting.

I worked at a shop for 2yrs. I dreaded working on my car (even when I had t prep it for AutoX) and specially others cars outside of work. Now that I work a completely different job, I look forward to the days I can dink around on my car.

I used to work for moss motors inc, before joining military. Ah I miss that.

Indeed!

But it's ok to have a side business and supplement your income with money from you hobby.

Billy: Most people work all day so they can do that thing they love. You clearly have "that thing you love", just keep doing it and doing it well. It will make work tolerable.

I agree with this completely.
It's when you changeover that side business to full time that you start to get gray hair :p
