That about sums it up.

Pete156 01-24-2014 03:56 PM

Wow. 1.6L V6.

I'd love to hear it, at say 17,000RPM
(Like a pissed off vacuum cleaner)

Oh wow!

Sport-Tech 01-24-2014 06:20 PM

Once the novelty wears off everyone is going to be clamouring for the V8s again - sounds too thin.

dem00n 01-24-2014 06:26 PM

Love it. But i'll still miss the V8's. They will always be with us anyways.

Whitigir 01-24-2014 06:31 PM

That is something similar to the 2015 STI was suspected to be developed, due to Subaru Hybrid Turbo patent back in 2005.

Before you know it....the STI is freaking UN-CHANGED

Haven't seen the video yet but I thought the turbocharger was equipped with an electric motor system where the motor keeps it spooled up and in situations where there is excess pressure and boost is not needed, the motor recaptures that energy and stores it.

Need to doublecheck my sources...

That sounds about right. Now we need a Street Production vehicles

Gaiseric 01-25-2014 04:17 AM

Someone go get one and do a swap on the twins lol.

atledreier 01-25-2014 05:18 AM

So the full electric supercharger thread is relevant here, I guess.... It's a hybrid of that and an exhaust driven compressor.

I figured I'd add this in case anyone's interested in seeing these beasts in action:
