That plastic below the windshield wipers

How is everyone keeping that plastic piece below the windshield wipers looking nice?!?! I don't know why by mine always looks bad no matter how much I wash it seems once it dries there is white residue or the finish is different in spots (some places the piece will be kind of shiny, others not).

303 aerospace protectant

+1 on the 303. I do mine weekly. Also good for any exterior black plastic (wipers, mirrors, black part of rear bumper)

Black Wow. I applied about a year ago on all the plastic surface and it's still working great. Such an awesome product it is.

Check out this video for demonstration. YMMV, but like I said, it's been almost year and it's still there.

I ended up buying Back to Black and 303 aerospace protectant and used them both. They are very different products with different uses.

If you are dealing with an FR-S / BRZ you don't need to read any further than this paragraph: Buy 303, its easy to use, easy to cleanup, and makes the surfaces in your car repel dust etc (I don't think they advertise this). It made the inconsistant black on the plastic on the brz go away and be consistent. Overspray on windows and paint wiped off with some buffing with a microfiber cloth. Also i used on the hoses in the engine bay and they are all a nice consistent black now as well. Highly recommend.

Where there was a difference is on my 2002. The Back to Black is more of a deep cleanser / restorer for oxidised plastic pieces. The 303 would add a little richness to old surfaces but not really do anything about oxidation etc. But if you do use back to black BE CAREFUL and mask off the paint and windows. Do not do what I did. I did all the black plastic and rubber, which is a lot, on my 2002 outback sport. Took me about 1 hr. But I did not mask off and was just using a cloth which as I was doing the plastic was lightly smearing the B2B on the paint and windows around it. I figured it would wipe up like the 303. But then I spent over 3 hours trying to get the stuff off my paint and windows!!!! It took orange clean degreaser to get it off and then if I oversprayed the degreaser on the back to black surface I would have to do that surface over again. I am so happy I did not use the B2B on my '14 BRZ!

The 2 are very different: Back to black is good for hard plastic oxidised or faded exterior surfaces (works especially well on textured surfaces) such as bumper trim or in my case there was a big piece of plastic between the front and rear side windows that it worked a miracle on, but it did not do much for old rubber weather seals, while the 303 protects and gives a great even finish to plastic, and rubber (like window seals), already in good condition.

I didn't get to try black wow, based on the video from blueslate it might be similar strengths as back to black but easier cleanup and use less (I had to use almost an entire bottle of back to black for my 2002).

303 user here as well. I use it for all the black plastic and dash once a month. All still looks new

This! Adam's In and Out Spray is awesome too, basically Super VRT is aerosol form, for hard to reach areas. Perfect for detailing the engine bay and hard to reach grille and trim pieces.

303 aerospace is waterbased, so it won't last long outside the car.

i use cquartz carpro dlux. you get crazy beading when you wash the car.

Any waterless cleaner does the job. Motorcyclists tend to prefer Pro Honda Spray Cleaner & Polish (aka Plexus, aka Motul Wash & Wax, etc). Just spray and wipe. I keep a spray bottle of RainX in my trunk for the windows and Meguire's waterless cleaner for the rest. The car waterless stuff does an okay job on black plastic parts. The motorcycle stuff works better.
