NYC owners

What do you guys use in terms of bumper protectors when parking in the streets of NYC. I bought a BumpShox for the front but the FRS is soo low that if someone backs up into me, it will still do damage. For the rear I was thinking like a bumper bra thingy?

And yes they look ugly but damaged bumpers look worse.

are you new to NYC? if you are parking in the streets, its inevitable... just dont stress over it...

Paint protection film will help with scuffs but not so much for a moron with a tow hitch backing up into your front bumper.

Lived in NYC my whole life and yes being bumped into is inevitable there are certain things you can do to avoid scratches, scuffs etc. On my GTI I had a Bumpshox on the front and it was perfect, for the rear I had a bumper badger that helped a lot.

Just wondering if anyone uses a specific product to protect the front of our low cars.

Just put some spikes all over it.

please please please don't throw one of those disgusting rubber mats on your rear bumper. it almost makes me want to scratch up your car...kind of like those people who think they're such hot shit that they park on the abandoned end of the parking lot or take up 2 spots

just take the scratches - its a part of city life

How the fuck does parking at the far end of the lot mean you think you're hot shit?

Some people think those that park in a way to reduce chance of scratching think their own car is hot shit. Yes people who park in handicap spots, places that arent actual parking spots, or taking multiple spots in a crowded place may be taking it a little far but parking away from others is actually considerate and healthier since you have to walk a few more feet. I would be more inclined to say people circling and waiting for that front spot are worse than the ones parking far away.

I always park as far away as possible. Keeps dip shits from hitting my car (in theory). I have working legs and I intend to use them!

I always park the end spot and this guy in a 135 always park next to me. I guess we protect each other

I can tell he is a car guy because he has winter and summer wheel/tires

Parking buddies!! :D

Always good to have another car guy park near you because he's just as scared of fucking your car up as he is his own.

thats stupid...you sound like the dude that would park next to me in the most beat up POS...

Honestly, if I parked several odd rows away from the entrance of some place, in an abandoned spot, and came out to some asshole parked next to me trying to be cool or funny, I would leave that car on four flats...the reason I keep a tire valve core remover with me at all times...

To get back on topic, OP theres really nothing you can do. I had freshly painted bumpers on my maxima and I only parked that car in my driveway or in front of it, and it got scratches and scuffs in under 6 months. People around me are notorious for parking on other people's bumpers.

Seriously? Where someone parks, which has nothing to do with you personally, almost makes you want to cause property damage?

It doesn't have to be, nor should it be. In any event, some people want to take care of their possessions against others who have no regard for other peoples' property. There's nothing wrong with that, nor should it cause you any concern.

Holy fuck! You guys are viscious! I'm glad my cars don't go to NYC with me...
