I followed the ft86 concept from the start - And although it didnt turn out exactly like the initial concept, i fell in love with the shape & mechanics of the twins on day 1.
I was contemplating getting a 350/370z, s2000, or s15. I ended up with a red Toyota 86, and am glad i did
I have decided to log my modification/maintenance progress here.
I look forward to getting to know some of you, & becoming a part of the 86/BRZ/FRS club.

Initial mods were:
Lakin numberplate brackets with 'kingpin' covers
TRD shift knob
Grimmspeed oil cap
TRD radiator cap
Centre console/armrest

With just over 1,000km on the clock, the car went into a local workshop to have the following parts fitted:

Exhaust:
RevWorks UEL Header
Motiv Concepts Overpipe
Motiv Concepts Frontpipe/High Flow Cat
Agency Power Catback

Suspension:
Bc Racing BR Coilovers (VIP, 10k spring rates F/R)

Over the weekend I installed a sharkfin antenna and drove 2 hours to Sydney to have Frank Bright Shine Detailing undertake paint correction & then Opticoat my 86.

The brake dust build up on my white wheels after the trip home was significantly less than the way there, and what dust there was easily wiped off which was awesome.
He also did a great job with the swirl marks in the paint.

Here is a pic i took today, i still havn't washed it!
Would recommend getting this done.

Next i will be fitting TRD window visors and getting all windows bar the front tinted at 15 - 18%

Great choice on the wheels. That red/white color mesh works really well with our cars.

^ Thanks guys, i did a lot of research on wheel & tyre sizes, offsets, suspension components, camber and toe before purchasing my mods.

Am very happy with the results so far. There is room to go a fair bit lower, with a different exhaust (it is the lowest point) and more negative camber ;)

I have a HT Autos lip kit, freshly painted in Mt Fuji Red (Firestorm) - But am a little hesitant about drilling into the car to fit it.. I like the clean look of no kit, and cant go back once i drill holes. Decisions.

3 weekends, 3 trips to Sydney

For the third weekend in a row i travelled to Sydney, all trips being 86 related.
The two trips where i had the 86 worked on, i took 2 cars. Them tolls! Cant imagine paying them daily.

Saturday 1st of February - Paint correction, detail, Opticoat. @ Franks Bright Shine Detailing

Sunday the 9th of February
- Australian Drifting GP Round 3 @ Sydney Motosport Park, Eastern Creek.

Saturday the 15th of February - EcuTek custom tune @ Tunehouse, Marrickville.

I had the boys at Tunehouse supply & install a GFB lightweight pulley kit, fit my Vigilant Motorsports CAI, and then owner Jim Ghelis ran the car on the dyno & custom tuned it.
He did a good job with the tune, and i ended up with a much more linear curve on my dyno graph.
The torque dip was also reduced, and i can feel a little more response due to the lightweight pulley kit.
The car sounds a bit meaner even on idle, and the Racerom features are awesome to say the least! The car sounds soooo good bouncing on 5,000rpm with the launch control feature!

The guys that work there seemed to be good blokes that are interested in their work;
They answered my questions, took care with my paint, and every nut/bolt/part that came off the car was neatly packed into boxes to take home. Well recommended.

TRD window visors

Installed TRD window visors a week or 2 back, forgot to post pics.

The visors come with Japanese instructions lol
There are guides online though, and it is quite simple - I spent most of the time getting them positioned nicely, before peeling the tape & pushing in the clips.
There are about 3 clips on each visor, and double sided tape which makes them pretty secure.
