Voltex Type 2 Paint?
1 Attachment(s)
Just received a side mount Voltex type 2 wing, and APR front splitter for my FR-s:) I'm conflicted on whether or not to paint the wing white to match the car, or or if I should just paint the side pieces while to match the car while leaving the foil CF. Of course, most girls say paint it, and the guys tend to say leave it. What's the forums thoughts?
I'm still torn. Might have to do a quick and dirty Plasti-dip to gain a better idea on what it would look like painted. |
Hah! What do you want? If you don't paint it, make sure the clear coat has UV protection. If you do paint it, you're still going to look like a boy-racer and make girls roll their eyes. That is a damn big wing! If you leave it black, to keep things from looking incomplete and unbalanced, you should add CF accents to other parts of the car. Maybe the roof, something in the front, and the fake vent things near the mirrors. Black wheels too.

Hope OmegaKnight doens't mind me borrowing his pic. This is what the wing looks like mounted on a while 86 with CF still left exposed. |

I wouldn't paint it white at all, but I would definitely add more clear coat to prevent it from fading / oxidizing etc..

Someone can easily shop this to show a painted version. |
Good call on the UV protection, Don't want this baby to loose her luster :)

Still torn, as I have silver wheels now, but will probably swich them up to something darker in a year or two so CF might be the way to go.

George, if you paint it FT86 Van will shun you! ;) get a good coat of UV and let all that cf glory show!!!

Don't you dare paint it.
Gimme a shout, and I can help you Opti-coat it, I got a full syringe of the stuff from doing my wheels. |
I have no idea how opti-coat works, but would like to protect the wing. Thanks Zuldajin, I will probably take you up on your offer. Kuma chan will be coming out from winter storage in March. Let's catch up at a local meet.

I'd recommend having a body shop you trust put a couple coats of quality clearcoat. If there's a place near you that does opti-coat FOR SURE get it, they won't have to do any prep since it's fresh clear so it shouldn't be too expensive. With both your wing will probably still be shiny by the time your paint is fading lol.
