Does reporting a hit and run affect our insurance rates? My front bumper and fender are dented in from a hit and run. I normally don't like getting insurance involved unless it's completely obvious it's not my fault, I wondering how would the insurance work in this case.

Call them and see. You can "Open" a claim and never go through with it. I have done that before. Filed a Claim... waited a few months then decided to use my insurance to fix some repairs. Depends on your insurance carrier, I know Progressive gives a $500 limit until your rates go up.

I've had quite a few claims and for Metlife, my rates have never gone up. The only shitty part is needing to pay the deductible. Good thing my deductible is only $300.
