Anyone else store their car for the winter and regret it??
Well im officially going bat-shit crazy right now and counting down the days till winter ends. I got my FRS around June, and put it away in storage on November 15th.
Not sure if Im going to be able to do this again next year. This is like bloody torture :bonk: The craziest part is that if anything I should be happy with my decision to store it away, we've got about 3ft of snow on the ground here, and my parking lot at home is like a bloody mole field with all the snow potholes that have been created by all the freezing and thawing. Yet still Im very uncertain of my decision to put the car away, even though it likely would have taken a bit of an ass kicking this winter. Anyone else that stored their car feeling this same way? I guess the silver lining is that Im sort of getting that kid at Christmas feeling again with the winter being half over, and spring almost around the corner. Sidenote: Anyone else drive both the best, and the worst vehicle in your parking lot at work, depending on which season it is? http://i501.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps3c10fcc8.jpg http://i501.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps98b275c2.jpg :D |
So its winter... and its snowing ashes... 85 degrees...

It really depends on how much you rely on the car for work/school/whatever. I actually love DD'ing this car through the winter. Putting it away for 4-6 months of the year would just seem like a waste of fun to me.
That being said, if you're going to lose your job for not making it in on a fairly snow-laden day, then obviously storing it and bringing out the truck is worth it. |
I have had 5 cars that have rotted in the garage over winter and cant stand it. Such a waste of time and money to have that tied up in a pile that sits there 6 months out of the year.

I have been driving mine whenever there's no risk of slick spots on the highway. Unfortunately there haven't been many days since December that I have been able to drive it.
I work second shift so if it snows that evening, I am stuck driving around 45 minutes in poor conditions and then there's a risk of slick spots for a week or so until they dry up. Driving a 05 Rav4 in the meantime is torture. It's safe but of course I'm not going to be excited knowing I have an FRS begging to be driven! |

I think i know what you feel even though i live in california lol. If i was to store my car away and resort to driving my previous car (97 avalon) I would probably get pretty depressed and would stare at my car all day. But than again, at least i would have a car to stare at. Lost my dream car once not gonna let that happen again.

STORE IT! If you have unpredictable winters, you will regret it. Been there done that. After driving my FRS with a decent set of snow tires from the Primacys it was much better, but then going from that to an R32. I would never go back. The FRS is too light,no matter what kind of tires you run, deep snow will cripple these cars. With two 80lb bangs of sand in the trunk,it went fairly well, but it did not leave room for much back there.

I love driving this car in the winter!! this is my First RWD car in 10 years. Went through the first storm with the all seasons. God what a mistake. undrivable but with the Blizzaks its amazing. I can get all the snow off it in less than 5 minutes I don't have to sit in a puddle with leather seats! I know the car won't last as long but I would rather enjoy it now and get something new down the road than park it in the garage for 5 months. We do have a truck that I can drive when its really bad out but most of the time when its that bad we just stay home. They are really good about Plowing in MA so I don't have to do much with my bumper.

Why not store it on the worse days (heavy snow) and drive the car occasionally on the better days? Obviously ... Make sure that you have snow tires on the car and the proper oil viscosity. It's just a car. Drive it.

Winter... you mean that time of the year where temps drop to about 65F at night?

This is not some rare supercar.. Throw some snow tires on it and enjoy it in the snow. These cars are a blast in the snow.

you just missed out on a ton of fun driving it through some snow. I have all seasons on and managed my daily drive just fine even with a snow storm here not too long ago. but then again you're snowstorms are a little different from ours...
