Ram Air Intake Bumper Duct
1 Attachment(s)
Im kinda surprised no one has ventured out and made one of these. I know they are somewhat of a hit in the 350z community. It also makes sense with how the air box is positioned. I know several companies have made more of an "extended" intake duct but with mixed results. If someone made one and had positive gains I'd be on board, just curious how the rest of you guys feel.

I love the way it looks on the Z..... someone just needs to do a photoshop of it on the twins......

Here are some quick PS.

There we a couple great ones showed off at TAS this year, look at the photo thread (in the FRS/GT86 pictures thread)

I'd be interested in getting one, just not sure if there are instructions on where to cut. .ck |
Driving in the rain would be bad though wouldn't it?
|
|
meh.. don't like it unless it gives extra 10hp.

the duct on the Z worked because the body was squared off. any holes on the bumper of the FRS will be oddly shaped due to the headlights and how curved the sides look. I don't see how they can do something that would be stylish for this car in that fashion.
then again i wouldn't do this even if it did look decent. on the Z maybe, not on this car. plus Even if it works well for the z, I don't think the way the bumper is designed it'll bring any gains, especially with airboxes that we have. We might as well just tape the filter into the box and then open up the front half of the box as is and see what happens. |
What @Fett4Real posted: Kind of a fix for what @CamryDS was saying about the square look. Is that what you meant?

@EvilBeaverFace Not really, What I was saying is that even if they do make one, it just doesn't look good.
The sides of the car itself are rolled around and not squared off, so the duct just looks bad in design. Sorry, no bueno on design. |
who said it had to be off center? these don't look as bad...

ever have any water issues? I was thinking about putting a duct on the right side of bumper instead of the driver side because of water I feel like the air would still fill up that chamber behind the bumper skin |

Anyone seen a duct to fit and flow with the curvature of the bumper on the (RH) side of the bumper? Aka passenger side in the U.S.
|
Debating on placing a naca duct somewhere
|
I haven't seen one that goes to that side, presumably because that wouldn't remove any of the perceived restriction of the factory intake duct.
