Spal Fan Shroud & Koyo Radiator

We're still waiting on the turbo for our kit build but in the meantime we've been working on supporting mods.

For our race car we wanted to go ahead and put a Koyo radiator in along with a proper fan shroud with Spal fans. We also want to make sure our turbo kit will comfortably fit the largest radiator and fan setup anyone would need to run.

This fan setup will also fit the stock radiator for those interested.

Finished... Not much room to spare.

Temporarily installed for pictures, we are waiting on some seals for the back of the shroud that should arrive tomorrow. We also have some wiring left to do, we are hoping to make it plug and play if we can find the proper connectors. For our car we will be using DTM connectors.

Very jealous of all the tools in that shot with the blanco table

MAN I wish I could run a shroud like that, but there's just not enough clearance on my car with the turbo kit and thicker radiator.

Aren't you running the Full Blown Kit?

He's coming out with the Fan Shroud.

Thanks, it looks like I may be trying that FB shroud out with some thinner fans.

I think that might work with the Full Blown kit. I would buy it in a heartbeat if I still had my car. With the shroud and higher flowing SPAL fans, I bet it would fix any idling/traffic temp increases.

I don't know if you could make it any thinner. This is only 2.65" deep at its very deepest point (measured from the back face of the radiator core). We used the thinnest fans Spal makes and only have a shroud depth of .65"

Any thinner than that and you either have a nonfunctional shroud (honestly this one could be deeper) or you have a crazy thin fan that isn't going to flow much.

I meant the thinner Spal fans.

My tuner checked the specs, and the Spal fans are slightly thinner than the FB fans, but flow a little less CFM's. They may be more efficient with the shroud though.

Those fans are nice, I just got some SPAL's and I must have ordered the wrong ones, mine are thicker then yours.

These are the thinnest Spal makes as far as I know. If you find different let me know. The part number I'm using is 30100375

noob question, but are these fans more efficient than the OEM thicker fans? Or efficiency on the fans do not matter?

they blow less CFMs

Lower CFM but lower amperage draw as well. They are definitely a less efficient blade design because of the shallow fitment. Spal makes hands down the best aftermarket fans out there and they are very efficient for their size. These will provide adequate cooling for any conditions with a Koyo radiator. I probably wouldn't recommend going on track with a stock radiator and these fans but then again I wouldn't go on the track with the stock radiator in the first place.

Once people take a look at the stock radiator and realize it's the same size as the ac condenser more will hop on the aftermarket radiator.
