Upper Control Arm Bushings
I'm getting ready to install the whiteline upper control arm camber bushings and I've read tons of horror stories about it. I can't find any documentation on torque specifications on the bolts nor any guides on how to remove the upper control arm or the stock bushings. I was wondering if anyone had any tips before I get the car up on jack stands as the last thing I want is to get the car half apart and run into issues. Any input would be welcome.

Not a BRZ but an 08 STi which should be roughly the same thing. EDIT: Ughh, looking at this install and then all the talk about how much of a pain it is to adjust them, I'm almost tempted to buy lower control arms and just eat the $160 I spent on these bushings. But I'll stick with Myles advice and put these in. Hopefully the alignment shop won't hate me to much. |
Does anyone have the torque specs on the bolts for the upper control arm?

I'd do both upper and lower or neither. As far as I can gather, bushings should all be changed together since they were all designed to work together. Put some stiff ones over here and leave the loose ones over there, then the loose ones get punished.

Make sure you lube the hell out of them after you they are together, pain in the ass to install and adjust.

Myles from RCE was the one that suggested the upper bushings over the lower control arm (since that was the route I was originally going to go) were the superior option and if he got me to buy something that was 1/4th the price when he could of sold me the more expensive option I'm inclined to believe this is the right choice. |
