I never realized just how loud my fuel pump was...

Until i got mine replaced today.

I had the 15,000 mile service done today and while I was waiting to write up the paperwork I noticed a bunch of people looking at my car. Most of them hardly ever see an FR-S so I just took it at that. When they called my name the service advisor told me my fuel pump was loud to which I agreed and kinda laughed at. He told me they have an updated unit now ad that they could replace it. I am so glad I waited for them to install it!

The car is near silent now when idling and I can't hear the pump when cruising. If you haven't had this done yet, DO IT!

Did you have the chirping issue?

Big time. I just learned to ignore it. I never realized just how loud it had gotten until they changed it out.

Be sure to update us later on. Some people have reported that their replacement pumps became noisy after a while.

My fuel pump could be heard over the radio while cruising on the highway...

I asked the guy at the counter if it was an updated fuel pump or the same one and he told me it was updated, so hopefully that means it will be good to go. The cool part was I didn't even ask about it, they just offered to do it.

How many times does toyota/subaru allow replacement of the pumps?

RojerLockless 01-16-2014 11:56 PM

They emailed me the other day that my fuel pump was in.. I ordered it in OCTOBER... back order... I can't wait I'm seriously starting to hear chirping around everywhere even when I'm not in my car it's PTSD shit..

OP, if you can, find out what version of "fixed" pump this is. If yours is the latest, it's Mod 4 by my count.

I have my 15k appointment tomorrow. I mentioned the chirping to them so hopefully they'll order me the part. I've been ignoring it lately, but I know it's still pretty loud. I've just resorted to turning my music up.

I think I've heard that the new fuel pumps chirp after a while anyway. Some people have put foam insulation around it to muffle the noise.

When I go in for my 7,500 mile service I'm gonna ask about this. The fuel pump seems to chirp louder as the mileage goes up.

Yep. Got mine replaced in September, came back a few months after that. I've learned to just ignore it.
