Mishimoto Oil Cooler Update!

.
.

Hitting the market this week is Mishimoto's new version of their BRZ/FR-S Oil Cooler. The big difference here is that this version now features their new thermostatic sandwich plate. The sandwich plate adds an important layer of protection that the original cooler didn't offer, not to mention, it's sexy as hell. That's what I like about Mishimoto, they know a thing or two about design. Since their big rebrand, every product they've pushed out has features fantastic craftsmanship and killer looks. It's one of the many reasons DSG Performance is proud to carry their line.

Now to the details. The thermostatic sandwich plate is lightweight and high flow, built from aluminum. The reason you want this sexy gold thing is that it will help maintain vehicle temperature as well as helping your vehicle to reach its operating temp faster resulting in a quicker warm up when you start the car. It's construction also allows for any size oil filter.

The sandwich plate also sports a built in thermostat and as always, comes with Mishimoto's lifetime warranty.

Nice, can the plate be ordered separate in order to up date a previous kit?

The article he links to basically just says that Mishimoto released a new version of their oil cooler and the only difference is teh addition of a thermostatic sandwich plate.

Jason@DSG 01-16-2014 07:59 PM

It can definitely be ordered separately (if you already have their oil cooler).

Info added, sorry about that. Just wanted to keep the post clean. The blog on our site has more images.

Hmm to be honest with you, I've only come across one and that was with the very first ones (possibly just one batch). I'm going to check in with my customers running it. I have gotten really good reviews and everyone's really happy so I'd have to say any leaking issues have been resolved. I will check into though.

Reopened. Keep it technical.

I checked in, and everyone running it seems really happy with no leaks with their oil coolers. Adding this thermostatic spacer will definitely keep operating temps exactly where you want them. Really awesome stuff from Mishimoto as usual

I don't think there has been an oil cooler sold yet that I haven't seen someone have issues with to include the Perrin, Full Blown, and Mishi.

Ny Brz 01-18-2014 02:08 AM

I was hoping that Mishimoto would add this feature to their oil cooler. Think I maya get this over the Perrin now.

Tye300 01-18-2014 11:34 AM

@Jason@DSG, will the new thermostatic plate be an easier fit with the Vortech kit?

ZionsWrath 01-18-2014 11:44 AM

What temp does the thermostat open? Does it only cum in look at me yellow/orange/gold/whatever color that is?
