Sound Clip Request: Catless UEL + Catted Front Pipe + Invidia N1

Anyone running this setup? Recently added a JDL Overpipe + Invidia catted front pipe + Q300 catback to my car along with a JDL UEL. I'm trying to determine if this setup is just "too quiet". Can't hear too much inside the car. Hard to tell if there's even much noise out the back with windows down.

I've already looked on youtube, seen a couple videos sort of close to what I'm looking for but not quite.

Few things I'm wondering about the N1 setup:

A) Is anyone running a catless UEL with a catted Invidia front pipe and the N1? I know there's tons of resonated or catless ones. Specifically looking for the catted since that's what I've got.
B) I've heard drone is reduced by having a catless UEL vs the stock header. True or not?
C) Does it become raspy with this setup?

I like the deepness of the dual canister setup, but the main thing I can't stand is rasp. If it drones a little, I can stand that, but nothing too crazy. Just trying to find that perfect balance of loudness without being too quiet or too raspy. I may stick with the Q300, but the N1 isn't very expensive and the pipe size should keep the sound reasonable.

Yes, I've searched the forums. There's also a million vendor threads with "Invidia N1" in them.

I ran an N1 for a little, just the catback and the drone was just terrible. Would not recommend, plus it is probably going to be raspy with a catless header and even worse on the drone.

lol, I can't make up my damn mind. Exhaust makes me crazy. If I had the money, I'd buy them all and just swap them forever.

I think your combo with the N1 would pretty loud inside the car having run that exhaust with no other exhaust mods. I am surprised u think the Q300 is too quiet with the rest of your exhaust mods ..... with the Q300 you could consider non resonated midpipe and/or frontpipe or no cats if you have those. I have the Q300 + resonated catless front pipe + overpipe and think it sounds pretty good and will be great once I get a header.

Unless it can top the drone of the 3" Nameless system with a catless header.... Did all your mirrors shake and windows vibrate around 3k rpm?

I bet your car sounds perfect now that you found the leak and the buzz. The real problem is the hearing loss from the 3" setup

Yeah, that buzz is gone. The overpipe needed to be shifted over more on the header as it was sitting more to the left causing a good leak on the right side you could feel.

your setup is pretty close to what mine will be.
JDL UEL+Perrin over pipe+Invidia resonated frontpipe+Q300.

right now i have stock headers as im waiting for them to be built but yeah I agree it sounds too quiet. I'm waiting until my headers come to make a final decision to keep the q300 or not. I also considered installing an electric cutout somewhere between the front pipe and muffler so I can have the best of both worlds but there isnt too much info on electric cutouts on our cars so i dont know how it would work out

I am running Borla UEL, motiv OP, stock FP, 2.5inch Perrin resonated. If you want a video of that, let me know.

UEL IS LOUD, wow........... how much is it. What's the difference of catback, header, cat front and all that

FR-S Matt 01-15-2014 11:33 PM

I may try the N1 and keep the Q300 if I get tired of it being loud, which normally I don't have a problem with. I even rolled the windows down and stepped on it and it still seems a bit tame with the UEL rumble. Absolutely no drone and real quiet in the cab. I do like how deep toned the N1 is. Losing the aero of the Q300 kind of sucks, but I don't think it affects things too much.
