Gains from aftermarket catted front pipe vs stock front pipe?
Title kind of says it all. Currently run a catless front pipe with a q300 catback, but will be getting a catless UEL. I wonder if it's worth getting a high flow catted front pipe, or just putting the stock on back on.
Does anyone know of any dyno runs comparing the two? |
With the tremendous response I guess it's safe to save a few bucks and put the stocker back on! :)

There's a HFC thread where the stock front pipe is being scrutinized as restrictive. So I'm going to bump this to see if anyone knows of any dyno data backing this up.

Nameless claims 3-5 HP and tq across the board by switching the front/over pipe over full stock.
By looking at I would expect some power loss vs a full exhaust if you put it back on. |
Perrin claims about 6-8whp by swapping the front pipe from stock to their (now discontinued) catted front pipe.
The difference between a test pipe and a HFC is minimal, but compared to an OEM cat you'll see quite a difference. |
