Used JDM 86 headlights
So I can source these out for a decent price, my brother is coming back from Japan in February, and I can probably stuff some JDM 86 headlights with his container. That will save shipping costs significantly.
Let me know if any of you are interested, they come with ballasts/bulbs. The 2 sets I've sold so far looked flawless.
As for blinding on coming traffic, these auto-leveling head lights seem to level off to the "default" setting when installed on USDM FR-S and the cut-offs are not an issue at all (according to the 2 sets I've sold). Yea I still don't fully understand how it works, but from the cut-off photos they've sent me, the buyers were surprised as well.
It depends on the used market, and I have connections with a shop in Japan that strips/builds drift and race cars, so they sell the used headlights alot. Also alot of the JDM guys need to integrate the signal lights into the headlights, since there is a law in Japan that the front signal lights needs to be a certain height off the ground. This makes the GT86/FRS front bumper integrated signal lights too low if they lower their car 1in in Japan. So people end up buying aftermarket headlights rather than bake/integrate signal lights in their head lights, which costs about the same at the end.
I understand some people are satisfied with Winjet, but I'm willing to help out some that are interested in the OEM headlights.
I can usually source them out for about $1200 a set shipping included from Japan. There will be shipping costs in the US how ever (I box em up/wrap em). I can't do high quantities, and I don't expect to do so because of the Winjet option, but those that want the JDM goodies, let me know soon so that I can put them in my brothers container. This will probably be my last chance importing big JDM parts.
Cheers!
