ZG Flares..?

Hey guys,

Was looking at oldschool JDM cars, and I always had this question in mind. Anyone done an oldschool style ZG flares widebody 86? would really love to see one, deep dish wheels maybe watanabe's or BBS RS and ZG Flares made nearly all cars look sexy.

yes, i was going to go this route and tested multiple flares for fitment. I found the wide ZG flares fit the car best without twisting or pulling the actual flares. I decided against it because you will still need to cut about 3-4 inches off the fender and quarter panel and then box it up.

I really want to see how this turns out. I love these flares, but can't get a good idea of what they'd look like as a finished product.

Wow, thank you, now I can imagine an 86 with them and it turns out to be just great, not sure about the rivets though if they would look good on a modern style car, I mean the rocket bunny looks great but if moulded it looks even better.

Not ZG but URAS did make this kit that looks like it.

It'll look odd, if you look at older cars with a bolted on flares the body is pretty straight on the side, where the frs has an immediate curve right after the flare would be place, giving it an off look like above.

Ignore the blue tape but this was when I was testing with the standard size ZG flare

Saw it and I think the fenders are too big, don't you think the same?

Well the 86's curve does go back a bit straight at the end and that's killing it for me at least, that's why I still want a fully curved side hence why I thought the rocket bunny kit moulded looks just awesome.

Thank you! any thoughts of moulding them in ? plus I think it would look better and more functional than the back of the rocket bunny where the whole tire is exposed and rock chips would be flying everywhere.

Issue with molding them in is any small wheel to fender touching and it's going to crack straight away.

Thank you for pointing that out sms, I used to have bushwacker flares on my FJ and they used to fly whenever the the shock compresses fully and the tire hits the fender, replaced the front left fender like 3 times throughout the winter haha.

I don't like it.

Bolted, they never come molded. That would be fiberglass fenders.
