I'm from the U.S., but I'm very curious about NZ. Everyone here who talks about how our government and country are going down hill says they will just move to NZ when it gets really bad. What is you're government like? Is it really that great over there?

Haydinho 05-16-2010 11:24 PM

government? - its all about the cars in NZ... such a great selection of cheap jap cars constantly flowing into the country,.. awww yea. its great!

Yes that is a good question I would like to know

Another NZ'er here, in Levin (you don't need to know that ;)).

I would expect the FT86 to be about $60K here... Judging from the overseas price of other cars, and comparing them to the overseas (expected) price of the FT86, and the prices of those cars here... Little more than a new RX8, but far sexier, and should be faster if the specs come out good.

NZ also here.. from Auckland :)
dang... 60k :O out of my budget :(

I will wait and see till they release it.
Toyota was wanting this car to be a affordble drivers car.
For 61990.00 you could go buy a WRX STI or a Stock wrx for 44990.00.
If that was going to be 60k then how much would Subaru sell there verson of the base FT86?
They wouldnt want to sell a Base FT86 Thats NA powered if it cost more than the WRX.
I wouldnt think they be able to sell them :iono:

^ Really? Are those new prices or used? I will admit I only compared one car - the RX8, but I didn't think for a second the WRX would be faster for cheaper?

Yes thats straight off the Subaru NZ site. Mind you since GST is going up so they will be a bit dearer again I would think.
I also only put prices down for the manual versons. Auto WRX is about 2 or 3K cheaper.

Snaps 09-27-2010 06:33 PM

So, what does the stock WRX entail? 2.0L Turbo w/ AWD? If so, expect the FT86 (Toyota version at least) to be abit cheaper than that! :D maybe $35K for the mid-low range model? Which would be an amazing price.

another from auckland. old rwd toyota fan. ft86 dreamer..
I remember the nissan s15 specR-II turbo selling for nz$42k before the emission stds got tightened... ok was a few years ago now so add inflation but would hope the new 86 be less than that. at least be competitive with the current corolla range 35-38k ish. please? less mod cons, more emphasis on handling, braking, engine.
