Whats with the chicks and bro's driving...
Out of the 50+ frs/brz's I have seen on the road only a hand full have even acknowledged me.
First is that 70% of all frs drivers are chicks!!! Whats with that? Dam auto's... Second are the college bro's wearing sunglasses that will be right next to you, yet won't wave back or even take a glance...... Thoughts? |
I didnt know I was obligated to wave at people with the same car...
|
Women driving cars?!?! Sheesh... The insanity. What's next, women being allowed to vote?
|
I saw a 50+ yr old lady drive a white FRS :iono:
I also waved/thumbs up a FRS driver twice and he ignored me lol. |
I rarely look to my sides when I'm at a stop light... I usually concentrate on the light, to speed off the second it turns green, or on the asshole in front of me to get his ass moving...
|
I think most people also wear sun glasses during the day. Not just college kids

I didn't know women could only drive automatics, THANKS OBAMA.
|
i only wait for others to wave at me, because i dont want to be the creeper looking and waving over only to be ignored or stared at funny. :D
|
You signed the contract when you bought the car.
You are legally bind to: Nod if frs is stock Peace sign if frs has wheels Thumbs up if frs has exhaust Wave like a school girl if frs has forced induction |

Not clear on your rules, are you saying if your car has these levels of mod, or the other driver's car has those levels of mod? |
Mostly all the stock people ignores me lol. Modded car are the people more likely to saw whats up

I agree with you and feel your pain lol. Sent from my dumb phone (X_x)@==('.'@) |
modifications usually show that the driver is an enthusiast and may respond well to a wave or thumbs up, however that may not always be true. :D

When people honk and "wave" at me is usually because I passed them on the right because they are driving slow on the fast lane. For those of you in Portland, OR... i.e. Hwy 26 westbound right after the tunnel.:iono:
|
haha i love blaming autos for 70% of the drivers when autos arent in 70% of the cars. i would imagine people dont acknowledge you because of the way you feel about women and young adults.
|
They're still relatively rare around here. I see one maybe once a week or so and generally give a quick peace sign and a nod. A couple of them live local and one of them happens to shop at my store. Small world!
|
|
I think the waving rule only applies to motorcycles though I could be wrong xD
|
Agreed, I'm not trying to be an asshole I'm just in my own little world.

I don't see Jeep stamped on the 86's anywhere.

OP I understand where you are coming from....hailing from chick-ville here, I hope how I perceive your observation is not skewed :). I grew up around gear heads and car enthusiasts my whole life, I learned quickly to acknowledge others with similar rides and notable rides. Perhaps, those who do not wave either are not comfortable doing so because they feel weird or like most who are still in their early owners phase, are just trying drive carefully.
I've been known to spot another FRS on the highway (or local) either coming from the other direction or passing me in the far lane and I still take the second to throw up some deuces or a thumbs up...but I've done that all my life. The town that I live in is tiny and I'm one of two FRS's I've seen in the almost 2 years this car has been out. Therefore, I still get excite and proud to see another triplet on the road. P.S. My FRS is a 6M/T and still love driving it everyday even after a year of ownership. |
Its a cheap good looking scion that comes in auto, there are going to be uninterested people who buy them and do not care about other owners. Unlike s2k, wrx, or vette drivers.

I don't think that age, gender, or transmission choice matter so much as if you are an enthusiast or not. Some people bought an 86 because they liked the car and no idea that websites like this even exist. I am sure there is a percentage that are drivers that have zero clue of anything around them. I was driving behind my sister in our other car for about 2-3 km and despite me tailgating and waving she only realized it after me driving like a complete jerk. I think that there are many other completely oblivious drivers out there - it is actually kind of scary but true. How does one have no clue of any of their surroundings for several kilometers? |

It is funny that we have the same threads in other forums I've been in. I try to wave at other FR-S owners but mostly get ignored. It is more enthusiasts that wave back. This is the same in the Ferrari community. The Corvette community seems to have more comrade on the road. BMW Z4 owners seem to rarely wave back as well.
|
This community has been around for only a year and half the people that own them just want to have the newest coolest looking car and don't give a fuck about anything or anyone else. The VW community is just the opposite. A bunch of true enthusiasts that actually care about cars and the community around them. It truly sucks this car attracted those people instead of the true enthusiast it was intended for.

It might be you are just meeting the wrong people. I have met and made alot of friends in the VW community who respect cars. But there will always be a few bad apples around where ever you go. Sent from my dumb phone (X_x)@==('.'@) |
Being in the Subaru community for so long , waving is part of it. Now some don't wave back at me because I drive a brz. Dunno lol
