AT Fluid Suggestions
 

Need some suggestions, I'm planning to change the ATF again. It seems the Toyota WS ATF doesn't like being tracked. I notice after a few track days that the AT does not shift as crisp as when the fluid is new. I don't know if I'm making sense or not, but that's how it feels to me. It seems like the clutch packs slip a little more than when the ATF is new.
The question is, what is the equivalent viscosity of the stock ATF? Or should I try some performance oriented brands? Any AT owners changed to other ATFs than the stock one?

Here are the choices we have for fluids if you want to switch from OEM - Redline D6 ATF, Eneos ECO-ATF, Amsoil Signature Series Fuel Efficient ATF, & Amsoil OE Fuel Efficient ATF. All of these fluids are equivalents for Toyota WS ATF. I switched to Redline D6. Shifting is now much smoother.

Keep in mind that the AT has a capacity of 7.5 liters of transmission fluid, and a lot of it will not come out if you only do a drain and fill. I'm not sure exactly how much comes out during a normal drain, but you're still going to have a decent amount of OEM transmission fluid mixing together with whichever new transmission fluid you choose. At least until you've done a few drain and fills, or have the transmission completely flushed.

When I put Redline D6 in mine, I had the trans completely flushed. An AT actually takes 7.9 liters, which is basically 2 gallons. I had to bring 4 gallons of Redline D6 to my mechanic to do a proper flush.

I know the mechanics of an AT flush but where am I going to get one done. I went to Savannah tire and inquired about a flush. They were leery of changing it as there machine had non compatible fluid in it. I could provide my fluid but they would not guarantee that there would not be any contamination when drained there machine.
So I am open to suggestions
on where to go?
And I get told THAT every day so forget it. Just looking for answers thank you very much. Lol

Have you installed a good transmission cooler? #1 enemy of an auto tranny is heat and would probably alleviate the issue.

Not yet. I autocross the car and any cooler bumps me up to the next class.
Until the SEB changes the rule set I would actually go to Street Prepared. Miata territory. If they change it then it would be in Street Touring.
I found a place to do my AT flush. And yes $$$$$.
Need about 4 gallons of Redline D6 ATF @ ~$20/qt = 16 x 20 = $320 plus the labour. :cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:
But I have convinced myself that I "NEED IT"!!!! But as I do auotx it, better safe the sorry.
Does anyone have any feedback on BG ATF fully synthetic fluid?

Isn't torque converter sensitive on trans fluid? Last time I had auto with torque converter, it started to act weird when I used third party fluid. It was in the same specification.
If I were you, I would stick with factory fluid.

I am aware of that. When I started my research on the different brands, I found all kinds of stuff on the different forums.
The main thing is do a full flush, measure what comes out and put the exact amount back in. This if you do it manually.
In other words "pay to play". Get a shop to so it.

I was on Amazon the other day, trolling ATF fluids. The site listed Redline D6 as NOT compatible with the BRZ. ???????

I need to add that this seems to be on paper only. Our trany comes with Dextron VI from the factory. Listed in the manual as ATF WS.
SSP uses rMotul gear 300 V 75w90.

Agreed. I am still putting in the Redline D6. The cost of the Motul is a bit much on the budget at this time.

Ask a question I must. (Yes I been watching Star Wars reruns).
Have you any feed back on BG full synthetic trany fluids.
Can't find much on line. Some good some bad. Same as am soil, some good some bad.
So I ask.
