Nameless axle back - Install and initial impression.
My Nameless axleback 2.5" with 5" mufflers arrived yesterday, but it was too
fricken cold to install it. But I did unbox it and admired my purchase. The exhaust was very well packed and was wrapped to protect the tips from scratches. I waited until it warmed up to 25 degrees and the sun was shining on my garage door before I was up to the install challenge. A cup of coffee in hand and some warm thoughts and I was ready to tackle this puppy. I backed up onto my rhino ramps and proceeded to remove the stock 1960's looking cadillac muffler from the car. I carefully removed the 14mm bolts and fished out the gasket to reuse. Next was getting rubber hangers to give up their grip on the stock muffler.. Some gloves and foul language were all that was needed to eventually un-hang the OEM axleback piece. I then suspended the new exhaust in place on the hangers and slipped the gasket into place and tightened it up. To my surprise, no adjustments were necessary after I straightened out the hangers onto the muffler supports. Checked and rechecked clearances, admired the look, which is so much better! and then fired it up. Major difference in sound. A very low tone growl but not obnoxious or too loud. Now it sounds like a sports car ! Took it for a drive and its what I was hoping for. Nice deep tone, smooth and not obnoxious at all.. No drone either from what I am able to tell so far. The tips look great from any angle and really dresses up the rear! One of the easier exhaust systems I ever installed. Glad I decided not to go for the Milltek.. saved $1K in the process and ended up with the sound I was looking for. Thanks to @humfrz for the sound clip and suggestion! |
Curious about how is the 4" muffler comparing to the 5" in sound?

(maybe I just didn't use enough foul language on the hangars ..... ;)) I'm glad you like the sound ..... you do realize it adds at least 10 whp ..... according to my ear dyno .... :burnrubber: humfrz |

I'm not complaining though, I love the sound. |

I thought I would have a go at it.. with the ramps and my creeper.. it was cake. |
I have had a Nameless Exhaust on my STi for a year and half now. I love it. Great quality, fitment, & sound

I loved my Nameless axleback when I had it by itself. I made a mistake of going with a 3" exhaust and made it too loud and droney. Had I have gone 2.5", I probably would have been just fine with the stock midpipe. Amazing quality on their parts.

Mine came in today as well, we must have been put in the same batch. I definitely agree. Nice low growl, zero drone, & looks great. 10/10 would order again.

I realize this is a dead thread, but I'm looking to purchase a Nameless Axle back soon, and this was the first thread that popped up when searching on Google. I have a few questions:
1) Did you order off of Nameless's site, and if not, what site? 2) About how long did it take to get to you? Thank you in advance to any help  |
