Oil coolers

I don't know where to even begin to look for information on these, but this is the last piece to the puzzle for my turbo kit I guess and I was wondering where is a good place to look for these? I've watched a couple videos and read some things about needing one because the oil already runs high in these cars (200 range) and it'll easily hit 230 in no time.

where can I find a good oil cooler? I tried searching this entire forum for it with no luck. I doubt it'll help but I have a greddy turbo kit (with other stuff) just making sure I don't miss anything before bringing it all in to get installed

It's not absolutely necessary to run an oil cooler but its greatly recommended to do so especially if you're running FI. Everyday driving shouldn't be an issue without one depending on where you live but if you plan on seeing any kind of track time you definitely wanna look into it.
Here's a few oil cooling solutions as well as a link for FT86speedfactory which sells some oil coolers as well. Perrin's oil cooler has seen some pretty good reviews based on others thorough the forum and ft86speedfactory generally has them in stock also.

If you want one that's more OEM-looking, and want to spend a little less, here's a DIY on the Forester oil cooler:

This is what I plan to do in the spring.

I have a vortech sc and was hitting 276*f at the track without oil cooler. Now i have a sard oil cooler and oil temp not passing 230 at the same track.

did you have issues with street driving and high temps?

Mersd 01-07-2014 07:36 PM

No problem with temp on streets unless on a canyon run without oil cooler.

I'm running the Perrin Oil Cooler, would recommend if you are tracking or driving hard on the road. Check my thread, I have a ton of pics, details, and data points.

Does anyone know if the Perrin Oil cooler will still mount properly if you have an intercooler? I have the AVO setup on order

I'm going to say that it should be fine, as long as the AVO intercooler does not sit in front of the bumper beam, but rather, underneath it.

I found something interesting the other day. Not cheap, but something different. V-mount oil cooler.

Looks nice, especially for those running a FMIC. Do you have a link to it?
