Man i thought the stockers were cheaper close to 900 for the set is a rip off!!
|
I already have a set of 225/45/17 Dunlop Z1 Star Specs waiting :) I mounted them on my girlfriends MK6 GTI just to autox with until the BRZ comes in.

For less money, you can buy MUCH better tires (for performance, maybe not for fuel economy/noise) once the stock tires wear out. |

For those used to Star Specs, RS3s, AD08s, etc they will suck :) |
RE11's?
I would love to put RE11's on mine day one but I'll try the HP's for a while. If it is as much fun to drive as they say, maybe I'll stick with them.

I'll be getting a set of 17x8 Weds coming in tomorrow, so once I get the car, I'll ask the dealer to transfer the Primacy HP's to the Weds wheels and also transfer the TPMS sensors to the Weds too. Hopefully they can do this service 'gratis' :D |
curious
I'm really curious as to how much of the stock mpg rating is attributed to these tires as they are lrr greenx. I know the energy savers gave my prius 5 mpg over non-lrr tires. I would think that the true mpg for this car is probably 27mpg for mt on performance tires.
What do you think? Anyways planning on getting a set of winter tires first, then maybe there will be some sort of lrr orange oil tires that provide lrr and excellent cornering traction (yokos?). |

I dont get it.
You get aftermarket wheels, you get new tires with those wheels. problem solved..... |
The factory wheels and tires will be replaced within 2 weeks.
I don't like the wheels or the size tire really a 215 wide.... |

I'll be swapping a set of lightweight 17x7 Kosei K1-TS wheels I have on our Subaru Forester now onto the new BRZ soon after I get it. Those will get some sticky Dunlop Star Spec tires mounted on them, I may keep the stock tires for a little while, especially if I'm taking it on any trips, no sense on burning up good sticky tires on several thousand miles of freeway driving.
In the past on other cars I've seen mpg drops of up to 2-3 mpg by switching from a high treadwear LRR tire to a sticky higher performance tire. Eventually I plan on mounting up some Continental DW tires in the stock size on the stock wheels to replace the "Prius" tires. |
